I have been using this app on my vivo active for about 2 years
I've completed two 70.3 with it, and benchmarked against many other smart watches worm by friends during open water training
Though absolutely not perfect and often wavy inaccurate GPS pings which makes for interesting maps
I highly rate this app and encourage anyone who doesn't have open water on their device to use this app!!
I am really happy with this app. It works well in the open water (used in a lake) and show me exactly the way and the distance.
Seems to work well how ever I stop to turn around and swim back and the app stopped tracking. Until I got back to the starting point then tracked a straight line from the rest point to the end point.
Thought it wasn't accurate for open swim for the distance it reports on the main screen, but if you go into the details the distance is actually accurate, completely different number. I wish this could go towards my swim challenges on Garmin, unfortunately it does not count.
Used this app today for the swimming part of a triathlon. Official distance was 700 m but the app only registered half of it. Swimming style was breaststoke. Tracking on the map looks more or less allright. Will continue to use the app and check the accuracy.

Better than the default Garmin Swim mode. However, not sure if its a limitation of Beta or it being in Manual Lap mode, any data field with Pace or Speed doesn't seem to be working. Only LL pace is working.
I couldn't find any information on Pace Calculation as to whether it is taking information from GPS data or something else. Because in manual mode, anything to do with Speed or Pace doesn't i dictates anything so I'm suspecting it's relying purely on GPS data
Also, I'm not exactly sure which feature would require Premium. A Text beside those feature would be nice.
High GPS accuracy in open water, it is amazing. Though it takes time to adpat to the UI control.
Awesome App! I let‘s ne change the length of my used Pool below the minimum size of 17 Meters in the native Swimming App.
It also has pretty low battery consumption, 30 Minutes swimming without gps just took 5% battery From my vivoactive 3. a further Feature i would love to see is to configure my visible Pages directly on the Watch, an not only in the Garmin IQ App.
Trank You for This Awesome App!
The watch recorded about double the distance i actually did on a bouyed course. Although the shape was accurate enough. But I got it to measure as a work out so I can change the distance if needed. The HR seemed to be what I expected judging by how hard I was working. If I wasnt on a measurd course the distance would probably be taken with a punch of salt. But overall very easy to use and gave me the stats I wanted.
GPS tends to jump everywhere but the rest is OK
Good app for open water swimming. Accurate and easy to use
I love it because it's easy to use. I have only one thing to criticize: sometimes, when you swim open water, the GPS goes down and it gives you wrong measurements. Nevertheless I suggest it.
I have been using it this summer for open water on a 245. I have to say I liked it. It syncs very well with garmin connect and in turn also with strava.
As a tip to the developer, the first time I used it I was surprised because there was only one data screen when swimming. It was my mistake that I had to click on start session and then all the data screens came up.
I would make that aspect more intuitive. Otherwise a great app I give it 5 stars.
Was a good app.
Just moved to a fenix 6 but the inbuilt Garmin app underestimates the distance swam. Done a long swim but Garmin only gave me 250m not 600 plus. I will update this after a few goes.
Since my Garmin vivoactive 4S doesn’t support open water swimming I’m using this app. It works fine and most of the time it’s pretty accurate as well. The only thing is that pausing your activity is rather difficult. You first have to unlock your screen before you can pause. Can you fix that?
This was my first experience with open water swimming app. I like it very much. I found it easy to operate and what is the most important for me accurate distance measurement! Thank you.
