This works well, but I have found an issue with the Garmin 935 running version 8.0. When you build a workout in trainingpeaks and select rating of perceived exertion it does not get found as a workout on the watch.

The workout instructions are transferred from TrainingPeaks to the Garmin device as a .FIT Workout file. Currently neither the .FIT Workout file format nor any Garmin devices support RPE as an intensity target. For RPE based workouts, we are plan to set the duration of each step and not the set the intensity value. This will get the interval durations to your watch so the watch can guide you through the workout, but you will need to know the intensities. I like the idea of the app and use training peaks premium but my coach says uploading structured workouts on my road rides isn't going to work as there isn't a facility to press a button on the Garmin to go into the next part of the work out when I am ready. E.g. If I am in warm up and 5 seconds away from sprint but just approaching traffic lights I don't want to go in to sprint in 5 seconds time but really want to stay in whatever section of the workout I am already doing until I hit a button on the Garmin to proceed to the sprint section. Is this functionality planned ?

In the works is an update to our workout builder where a step can be set to end on a lap button press. This will allow the duration of steps to be open ended, and keep you from sprinting through that red light! Even without this feature you can always use the lap button to skip ahead to the next workout step, but right now there is not a way to pause the workout but continue recording the activity. -104 is a "Bluetooth Connection Unavailable" error, which means that no Connect IQ app can communicate with the phone. Our app relies on that connection to download workouts, and without it our app is DOA. This appears to be a common issue with the 735XT, and Garmin is aware of the issue. A few things that you can try are 1) make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your watch, 2) make sure that the watch is paired to your phone, and 3) have the Garmin Connect mobile app open and connected to your watch before launching the TrainingPeaks app.

Was working then stopped working, tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it's not worked since despite restarting both device etc. Regarding the Fenix 3, this will probably never be supported. The 735XT has slightly newer innards than the Fenix 3, thus supports a new version of Connect IQ - Trainingpeaks is written for the newer version hence does not support the Fenix 3. Same with Strava Live segments. I'm annoyed about that too, I bought a Fenix 3 recently and was gutted to realise my brand new very expensive watch was already outdated.

Idea and Implementation is ok. What I miss is the full set of data recorded using the normal running app. Actually the Stryd sensor sensor is completely ignored so i have no power recording in the fit file. It would also be great to set the incline for treadmill workouts.

Once you are performing a workout you are back in Garmin's workout interface, and there should be no difference in the data that is recorded. You can scroll through any of the Run screens that are already setup to check your running power etc. Garmin's main workout screen is not customizable, but you create custom screen with the exact information you would like to view during your workout. There is a limit to the number of workouts that can be stored on a device, and unfortunately there is no indication when that number is reached. If this is the case, then you will need to remove all or some of the workout files on the device. Good app to be able to quick sync my daily workout. Sometimes in Fenix 5X I get one problem since the app continue in training peaks logo till timeout due to some kind of bluetooth error even the phone is connected without problem. I solve it by restart the watch but it's a bit annoying to do it everytime, one way to solve this would be to be able to download a few trains (for 2 days in advance or configurable for example) and then just do the workout from there without need to sync it everytime :)

This app worked great for a few months and now does not work at all on my 935. Went through the help desk at Garmin and tried all the fixes on their side and it still doesn't work. Disappointing!

I'm another 735xt owner who can't get beyond installing, syncing with my 735XT (which is connected through GC phone app already) ... I get as far as "Please connect your phone and open the Connect Mobile App" and I follow this instruction and nothing happens!! I followed your recommendation to connect the 735xt to GC phone app before opening the TP app. It would be great to get this working as I have a paid training plan hosting on TP but it simply doesn't work on a device it claims to work on. Therefore 1 star, sorry.

The 735XT is a problem child, the CIQ 2.x platform requires a lot of memory and processing power and the 735XT struggles to keep up. We have discussed this with Garmin. But no one can tell us what other tasks may be running on the watch that need to be temporarily turned off in order to get through the login process, which requires a lot of the 735XT's attention. However, we know it is working since we track which devices are downloading workouts and there are plenty going to a 735XT. If you are seeing the message "connect your phone..." then the watch does not think it is connected to the phone. Try this. Have the GCM app open and connected to the watch. Let the watch and GCM app finishing whatever sync they do when they first connect. Then launch the TP app and wait for TP login screen shows up within the GCM app. If that still does not work, try disabling what every you can in order to give the 735XT a fighting chance. Once you get logged in, it takes less effort for the 735XT to download the workouts, so you can enable everything once again. Based on feedback we have heard from other users with 735XTs there seems to be more issues with Android devices than iOS devices, your results may vary. If getting logged in is not frustrating enough, the 735XT only allows ~32 workouts to be stored on it at anyone time. So once you hit that limit you will need manually delete the older workouts. Based on Murphy's Law you will find yourself in this situation at the least opportune time. This *used* to work on my Fenix 5 and was absolutely invaluable! It is now broken. (I've tried reinstalling, and even tried factory resetting my Fenix5 as well as uninstalling/reinstalling Garmin Connect Mobile - nothing has worked). When I launch the TP app, it prompts me to log in via my mobile to authorise the app - I do this (on the phone, my log in is fine, and the app gets authorised). The app on my Fenix 5, however, is still just sitting there waiting for authorisation. It simply does not get passed this stage. Quitting and restarting the app on the watch simply re-initiates this whole process again. Curiously, while I'm on my mobile, trying to authorise the app, the watch submits several requests for authorisation... This is on Android 7.0. Obviously (hopefully!) I really appreciate the app, but there is one little thing that stops me from using it. When I set a pace target it is transferred to the watch with a pace corridor of approx. +-15s which is by far too much. Usually I set +-5s around my target pace. Any chance to make the “window” configurable? Either in the IQ app or on the trainingspeak.com side? That would be a 5star feature for me.

We have found that it works better if before launching the TrainingPeaks app that the Garmin Connect mobile app is already open and the device is connected to the phone.

Was soll diese App, die mit keinem meiner Garmingeräte (Forerunner, Fenix, Edge) funktioniert? Die Entwicklungszeit hätte man sich sparen können...oder einfach richtig nutzen sollen! Oder gebt einfach mal eine plausible Anleitung, wie man von TrainingPeaks ein Workout in ein Garmingerät exportiert. Bitte aber kurz und bündig!!!

What you are describing sounds like your device has reached the max number of workout files that it can store. Each device has an upper limit to the number of workouts that it can store at anyone time. This is independent to the amount of total storage capacity of the device, which is mostly reserved for activity data. Try deleting a few workouts to see if that fixes the problem. Works great for certain workouts on certain devices, but not all and not perfectly. My main issue is that swim workouts are not currently supported, nor any workouts with RPE as a goal. I very much hope they get this worked out soon.
