The app works great. Is there a way to make it tag Activities as "Rock Climbing" instead of Other in the Garmin Connect categories?

Tried this today for the first time. I loved it. Useful features: * Total climb time, total rest time * Ascent distance, total ascent (distances incredibly precise on the fenix 5s, seems the error is within +- 1meters, exceeds my expectations) * Keeps track of all grades and success/failure to climb * So many rankings supported (french, Yosemite, bouldering.. etc.) * HR info, calories I was able to find the grades (5.10, 5.11A etc.) reported on the mobile app but I can't seem to find them in the web client.

My only real gripe is that the climbing levels (at least for Yosemite scale) don't show up properly in the data screens in Garmin Connect. For instance, on most of my laps it shows 6L, except the one where it shows 5.10+L. I had done a 5.9 and 5.10 as well, but maybe the system is rounding those to 6? Please try and fix this.

Very good app. However, with the vivosctive music 3 I can't mark laps with double tap, and I don't have a lap button in it.

Very good and useful app! The only drawback is that one cannot record GPS track when using this app outdoors, crags, mountains:(

Thanks for sharing this app! very useful to record the climbing activities! Just a couple of question / suggestions: - can you please explain me how it works the setting "Pause recording in rest Yes or No"? - have you ever thought to add a multipitch version? with level of each pitch and if you are leading that pitch or second climber - is it possible to add GPS recording as well? Thanks Mattia

Great use of Connect IQ! Used this last night at the climbing wall and it works perfectly. Shame the developer is limited in what can be shown post climb in GC mobile/web but certainly makes the best of what can be achieved. The only slight negative I have is that he ascent figures for me are showing with lots of numbers after the decimal place, this could hopefully be rounded to a max of 2 to make it look neater. Keep up the good work!

Very Nice! Thanks for this great app! suggestions: - it would be nice if one can read the information (grade & success) in garmin connect web or maybe to be able to export one's stats - to adapt the screens

Hi, you can view the grades & success information in Garmin Connect - in Connect Mobile go to the Laps section of the activity, turn the phone horizontally and scroll all the way to the right

Hi, I want to use Fontainebleau. But I can't choose it. My vivoactive 3 just shows me Boulder but this is not the fb grading system. What do I wrong?

2 de Março de 2019 | Versão 2.8.6

Hi Eran, thank you very much for your great app. I use it and it is perfect to track the workout. Unfortunately I raise you a defect in french grade: if you do for exemple 3 pitches 5b 6b and 6a the grade chart level on GCM indicates correctly 5 grade but for 6 level and above the chart displays 8 grade or 9 ... so for my exemple on chart I have 5 (ok) and 8 (not ok it should be 6) and 7 (not ok it should be 6). Thank you again for your work and this extraordinary app.

Hi, the grade graph does not display the climb names but rather a relative difficulty - 1 is the first grade in the system (4A in the French system), 2 the 2nd (4B), 3 is 4C and so on... To view the actual climb names, go to the Laps section in the Connect mobile app, turn the phone horizontally and scroll all the way to the right

Unsure what's not right, but I tried this yesterday and there are two issues. Main one is zero tracking of height at all, on climbs ranging from 1-4m across grades. I can't find anywhere to adjust a minimum height bit the app in connect says 36m? Secondary is that I entered details in the app (v grades) which don't seem to translate to connect. I can't find them anywhere. Any help appreciated.

hi, as I've mentioned in the description, altitude tracking depends on the watch's barometer accuracy, and as such it's merely a rough estimate, especially for height differences which are less than 3m. To see the climb names in the Connect mobile app, go to the Laps (splits) section, turn the phone horizontally and scroll all the way to the right.

Am I doing something wrong...? I am looking to use Yosemite Decimal System (5.##), but when I select that on my watch it only gives me a 0 or 1 selection choice?

Resposta do programador
28 de Fevereiro de 2019, eran_levi

Hi, the input for the Yosemite system is composed of 3 parts - 1. 0/1 where 0 is for numbers less than 10, 1 for numbers greater than 10. 2. A number between 0-9. 3. a/b/c/d/+/- or blank. e.g. for 5.13b select 1 in the 1st field, 3 in the 2nd, b in the 3rd. The app lets you input values for these 3 fields, so if that doesn't work as explained, please send me a feedback and let me know which watch you're using.

Hi, in the mobile app, go to the Laps (or Splits) section, turn the phone horizontally and scroll all the way to the right. The extra fields should be there.

Not a bad app! Definitely takes a bit getting used to, as the Descent mk1 doesn’t have gestures or swiping. Probably built for sport/trad climbing and very little by way of bouldering. Biggest request for a feature is a toss-up for traversing, or treadwall training. Both are common in gyms nowadays, or at the very least some kind of recognition of system boards (moonboard or kilter, etc.). It would also be nice if the app didn’t rely on just vertical gain. A large number of incredibly difficult problems are roof problems with mostly horizontal movement, but technical and burly positioning. Several of the V8/9 I project are all short, but extremely steep problems. Overall, nicely done but should have some means of judging effort that isn’t just tied to vertical gain.

I couldn't get it to stop tracking. And now, when I try to uninstall, it keeps restarting my device.

5 de Janeiro de 2019 | Versão 2.8.6

It is great that I can track my climbing with this app. It‘s helpful that you can track each climbing route and its climbing grade to get an overview of all the climbing routes you managed in each climbing session. And it is also good, that I can record the time I spent climbing. Because it counts to my garmin activities and I can see the training effect it had. And the support is great! I contacted the developer and got an answer back in a few hours! Really good!

Very nice APP. Nice interface and easy to use. But I miss something in bouldering activities. If you are doing some resistence trainning, doing lateral movements and having little gain of elevation, the APP records nothing, only the time and the HR. It would be interesting to have a movement counter, such as strokes in swimming or paddling in SUP. Something that counted the number of movements with the gyroscope (x2, to be read only one arm). Boulders less than 4 meters also doesn´t count anything and indoor boulder trainning it is rare to have boulders higher than 4 meters. It is already great, thanks again for the APP.

Great app! I’m using it every training, climbing and bouldering

Overall, very pleased with the app! Badically exactly what i was hoping for in and indoor climbing wall tracker. Not sure if user error but I was confused to find that climbing wall selection for difficulty only went up to 8. Climbing in a gym in the US using the 5.x grading scale and my gym goes as has at 5.13d. (Separate issue) the actual climbing ascent measured pretty much dead on but every descent I ended up about 25 ft below my previous starting elevation. Elevation plot looks pretty funny with about 150 feet difference between max and min when the gym is only about 12 meters tall.

Hi guys, I'm a fan of the app. Not sure if you can fix either of these for me, but when I've conpleted certain moves the watch wants to know if I've had a sucess climb or not, but I haven't completed the climb. Also, its indoors and its telling me the routes are 10m when the wall is 18m.

Resposta do programador

hi, Altitude evaluation is based on the watch' barometer, which is not 100% accurate, so the mismatch between the wall's altitude and the watch evaluation can't be fixed unfortunately. Still, the altitude climb graph generated by the app in Garmin Connect might give you a general comparison between climbs. But in any case, in the app's menu you can set "Auto Lap on Descent" to "No", and then it'll stop trying to prompt for success when it "thinks" you ended the climb.

Perfect !

26 de Agosto de 2018 | Versão 2.8.2

Works quite good, some improvements for me: - The selection of the difficulty in two steps (number and plus/minus, in my case) is useless, for me it would be much easier to have just up/down on a single value combining both, like 5, 5+, 6-, 6, 6+, ... (similar for other grades) - In the Connect IQ section, it would be great to have per difficulty counts/ascents, ... as well - In the laps, the columns in the portrait mode, are completely useless for this Climbing app; if I turn to landscape, it shows what I need to know but I need to scroll rightmost, it is all far too inconvenient to be useful (I can imagine, that this may not be under your control, as it could be Garmin app limit, perhaps we could request Garmin to improve)

Very good app! Easy and intuitive interface. A bug is that climbing grade and whether it was successful do not show in Garmin connect on the lap tab for the activity (only ’—’ is shown). Would be great if that could be fixed

Hi, that seems to be an issue in Garmin Connect web for quite a while. Please try in the Connect Mobile app, in Android at least, it does show this info correctly if you rotate the phone horizontally while in the Laps section.
