Exactly what I was looking for, but because it need a GPS location it's completely useless to me. I wanted this to toggle the backlight on the indoor trainer to stop it turning off all the time, but because my trainer profile has the GPS off to save power, the field doesn't work at all for my use case. Add trainer useability and it's 5 stars...

Great, absolutely must-have for spinning in dark room, should be a part of garmin firmware.

Excellente idée. Devrait être très utile à l'usage à l'aube et au crépuscule.

This is just what I was looking for. I had a Forerunner 610 which had this functionality built in and it would stay on when I set it in systems settings to stay on. It worked great for the short training runs in the evening and dusk runs. I upgraded to the Forerunner 630 and Garmin seems to think that battery management should be Garmin's decision not the user. I understand some people drained their battery on the 610 and that's why they dropped it. Big mistake. The 630 screen is dim anyway and having the light on makes it much easier to see at dusk. This datafield works and stays on when it is added to one of my datafields on the 630. I still had to set the 630's systems settings Backlight to adjust "timeout" to "Stays On". When the timeout was set to one minute it would override the datafield setting and shut off the backlight. I always remove the watch from my wrist when I run and hold it wrapped around my fingers. I can then manually page through the datafields with my thumb so I can see my pace, heartrate and cadence pages etc as I swing my arms. The Garmin auto page scroll is too mindless and I have no control. On the 610 I could page back (left) and forward (right) and that functionality has been lost on the 630. You can only go forward. Doing this requires the light must stay on. I would like to see the developer add that forward-backward functionality back, by dividing the screen in half vertically down the middle and if the user presses on the left half the data screen with ones thumb it will move back and if the user presses on the right side the data screen will move to the right. Simple. I don't know why Garmin hasn't done it.

Glad you like it, enjoy the field Peter! Connect IQ data fields do not have the ability to intercept user input so I can't implement the forward-backward functionality you are requesting. But perhaps it is an option to use a field which shows more data so that you do not have the need to scroll around? Several authors have created such fields, myself I also created a field like that, I've called it "All In One" and it's downloadable from this link: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/6dec42e9-7fee-402b-95a4-a111e83d45e3 Cheers, Peter.
