Works great and is a fun way to stay motivated. On long runs late in the season this is way more fun than watching the miles add up. Me and the boys earned seven beers each on our long today and got hyped each time it went up

This is a fantastic piece of fun... hic... now I run around in ever diminishing circles, shwaying slyly... hic... slightly... can shomeone point me the way home? Hic!!
Seriously good fun app! Many thanks!

I choose Lager with standaard 150 cal.
But isn’t that a bit too short ?
1 can .33l = 145 kcal
1 liter Lager is 580 kcal
That is 580000 calories ?
11. september 2022,
At least as to how it’s typical used to in US English, a food calorie is the same as a kcal (confusing, I know). So what’s showing as 150 cal is 150,000 small calories. Use the kcal value (if you’re used to that) and you should be fine.

I’ve been using this data field for several years now and cannot be happier with my estimated BPM(Beers Per Mile) rate. I tell everyone with a fitness watch to pick it up, and you should too.
24. juli 2022,
I too have memorized my expect BPM for runs, biking, and paddling (I find that hiking/backpacking has a lot more variance). Really glad you enjoy it, thanks for the kind words!

Best datafield out there. Very hard drinking all the beer if you are a ultra runner.
19. juni 2022,
I understand, I myself have had events where I have “earned” 20+ beers, and tackling that many beers afterward is a challenge. But since you’re an ultra runner, I know you’ll try your hardest, and that’s all you can ask of yourself :-)

Wonderful little motivator for running
14. april 2022 |
Thanks for that great app.
My only little complain is that icon on my Edge 830 in small field is terribly big, and it doesn’t look nice.
17. mars 2022 |
Can’t figure out how to get it to show up on my Venu 2s
18. mars 2022,
On all Garmin watches, the data field must be manual added to the stat screens for each activity you want to use it with. You’ll want to add a field for Connect IQ : Beers Earned Plus. See this video for the Venu 2 series:

Love this data field. It's never leaving my 6x or 7x.
One minor point though, the changes in 2.4 have left the numbers looking slightly 'squashed' on the Fenix, especially in an 8 field layout. Kind of tall and thin.
It looked better before IMO.
3. februar 2022,
You're entirely right here. Each device only has about 5 font sizes built in (and they're different on every device). In order to be able to adjust those numbers to any size of data field on any device, AND ensure that 2 digits can be shown, I embed a font into the data field with about a dozen different sizes. This way it can adjust to any data field size or device without being limited to the ones included on each watch.

Installed app, rode 100k, earned 30some beers, died of alcohol poisoning, 5 stars
10. desember 2021,
Oh yeah, I totally understand this comment! I earned 29 beers in a single day on a 22-mile round trip hike up to a glacier and back, and tried to "use" my earned beers late that night. But I was so tired I didn't make it past 1.

By far the most useful app on my Vivioctive 3. Sitting in a pub at the moment catching up on my beer earnings! Real incentive to walk a bit further to another pub.
10. august 2021 |
I have this installed, but it does not show up as an option on my custom data screens underneath activity settings. I have a fenix 5.
11. august 2021,
First step....verify in the Connect IQ app that it's installed (sometimes it gets stuck as "queued").
Garmin doesn't make it easy to use Connect IQ data fields. After you install them on your device, you must manually add it as a data field to EACH ACTIVITY you want to use it in (for example, running, biking, hiking, etc.). For an example of this on the Fenix 5 watches, watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5HYBabeB2s. Basically, in the activity, go to its settings, then data screens, and then add a screen or select an existing screen. Within that screen, and select the Connect IQ » Beers Earned as one of the data fields.

I just upgraded my Garmin and this is the first thing I put on it. Indispensable. Garmin should buy out the dev (for a shedload of money) and have this screen preinstalled on all devices.
4. august 2021,
I agree! Garmin *should* buy out the dev for a pile of money and pre-install this! I mean...they have hydration tracking, but not this?!?! ;-)
30. juni 2021 |
The version 2.4 update lost the ability to select the background color of either white or black. Please bring back this feature.
30. juni 2021,
I just released v2.4.1 to address this. Previously, the user had to select a color, and it would not honor the default of the device they were using. Now it uses the device default background color, but you can override it in the settings (like before). Note that if you select "Stout" as the beer style, the background will always be white (or else the stout is too dark to see).

Everyone gotta love this application :)
14. juni 2021 |
Just love this app!!!
26. mai 2021 |
Awesome app which perfectly fits my running motivation.
It would be nice if the beer glass would appear bigger on the screen. And maybe choose different sizes? Pint, schooner, 0,25...
6. mai 2021 |
How can I see beers earned when activity has been finished? Thank you very much! Fénix 6x pro.
7. mai 2021,
On the Garmin Connect Mobile app, view the details for an activity (you have to have recorded it using an activity with the Beers Earned data field configured). At the VERY bottom of the 2nd tab you'll see the cumulative total, and the bottom of the 4th tab is a yellow graph showing how they were earned.
In Garmin Connect for the web, it's at the bottom of the activity details screen, under the heading "Connect IQ"
29. april 2021 |
The fact it earns me 8 beers for a 13 mile ride gets a five star rating. Or the devs want us all to get liver disease.
30. april 2021,
That does seem like a high number of beers (that might only earn me 2-3 beers), unless you're riding a fat tire single-gear or something. You may want to go into the settings in Connect IQ mobile and make sure the "calories per beer" is set correctly (it defaults to 150).
17. april 2021 |
Best app for motivation ever! Thank you so much ;)
1. januar 2021 |
Like the idea but wish there was a better way to look back on beers earned. A calendar type view or a weekly running total of beers earned would improve this
4. januar 2021,
Those are all great ideas! And while you can view the Bears Earned on each individual workout (in Connect or Connect Mobile), unfortunately Garmin's Connect IQ restrictions don't provide a way to do this. If that changes in the future, I'll definitely look into implementing it!

No sirve para nada, no se activa
30. desember 2020,
As a data field, It doesn't activate on its own (Garmin's limitation). please read the app description of how it must be added to a data screen for each activity you wish to use it with. If you'd like more specific help, please use the "Contact Developer" link.
17. november 2020 |
Screen flickrs when the data screen is added
23. november 2020,
I have tested this data field on multiple physical devices, and have not encountered this issue. Could you use the "Contact Developer" link to send me information on which device you're using it on, and perhaps a short video of what you're seeing?
15. november 2020 |
This data field has become my sole motivation for even using my Garmin!!!
Beers Earned is genius!!!
I agree with another rating that I just read...I’d like a notification added for each beer earned!
Nonetheless, this data field works flawlessly for me! Please maintain your integrity!
23. november 2020,
Update: looking into adding a notification for each beer.
