I have used this for both indoor rowing and kayaking on a Vivoactive 3. It works great for kayaking and I will continue to use it for that. For indoor rowing it doesn't count total strokes. I have tried it both with a cadence sensor and without. Without the cadence sensor I don't get any kind of stroke rate. With the cadence sensor I get a stroke rate (that's hard to decipher because it's time per stroke not strokes per minute) but the stroke count is like 50 strokes when I did 600. The Garmin indoor rowing app works great, it just doesn't do distance. I was hoping to get that from this app.

I bought it for indoor rowing, but it doesn't measure cadence and consecutively all the resulting data. Please do not answer "sorry you are having an issue the app acquires the movement from the watch and needs to have some movement to register strokes" because Garmin default indoor rowing works well, in terms of cadence measurement.

Have had issues with this app randomly returning to trial version and then I miss my activity tracking. Once it was due to needing to pay the annual fee but every other time it just occurs with no notice. If it does it one more time I’m getting my money back.

The app works fine. Don't like that distance isn't saved but this (and other developers) state this is a Garmin issue. However, the app expired on me. Nowhere on this page does it state that we are only purchasing a 1 year subscription for this app. After digging around on the developers web site i discovered that an "expired" error code means my paid app has to be renewed and I must purchase the app again. Very disappointing that the author has a yearly subscription model and does not state this on this page. I wish I could remember how long ago I purchased the app as it seems like quite a bit longer than one year so I wonder if the yearly model was implemented AFTER i had purchased the app.

Hola Dos cuestiones.... Instalo 3 aplicaciones y la cuarta no me lo permite. Tengo 109 k libres mucho más de lo que ocupa la aplicación ... Con la aplicación en marcha no puedo bloquear el reloj y se pulsan los botones dando errores.

Again, like every year the app, SUP, told me that I don't have subscription and I can't use the app. Also the app tell that there is no internet. Very frustrating.

I've been using this app with my Garmin 1030 for almost a year now. The app can only be used for monitoring, planning a route on the water is not possible. Had a lot of trouble with the settings at first. In August 2020 I made a notification that my speed is not showing. It does average speed but not my speed. I also indicated that the lack of speed is an important part of the indication. I received a response that it would be investigated, and haven't heard anything since. Unfortunately the app still doesn't indicate speed on my Garmin 1030. I regularly ask myself what I would miss if I no longer have this app.

Hi, Not sure on review but have a question, Can you change the icon to appear as SUP vs rowing? I just used trial version, connected with GPS and uploaded to Garmin Connect but was hoping for SUP icon. Thank you!

Lets start from the app naming convention: Rowing- ok Paddling-? Not sure what exactly are we paddling. Kayak-? It seems that implication is white water kayaking, can we make that more obvious? SUP-ok Rafting- ok Lets discuss paddling. There is ICF Sprint and Marathon Kayak/Canoe paddling, sister sport to rowing. Nothing in your application suggests that, it is open ended. The sport is raced in single K-1 and C-1 as well as multi person boats K-2, K-4, C2 and C4. Distances range in sprint from 200m/500m/1000m and marathon approximately 30k. Like rowing, it is a metric sport. Consider this above for your paddling app specificity and naming convention. I have direct app critique and how is data saved in garmin connect. I will restrain comments to rowing and paddling. They are both metric sports and that should be the only unit used in tracking distance regardless of watch global unit setting. That is also how the info should be saved in garmin connect. Pace measurement unit and display in both. Rowing uses pace expressed in min:sec/500m. Paddling can do the same. Expressing that pace as app does in min/miles as in running is useless to those athletes. It is unfortunate that garmin connect saves that with no reference to proper pace but rather assumes global unit settings and shows pace in min/miles. For marathon paddling, per ICF rules, there are portages that involve dismounting from the kayak/canoe, running with the boat in hand through portage and mounting, than paddling, that is done several times during the event. Consider that transition ability in your app. If you want more input and suggestions, contact me at the sale listed email, you have it, it is a recent purchase. Overall I do recommend this app.

Garmin 945... I tried using for indoor rowing... Doesn't register strokes. I rowed for 40 minutes... Average stroke rate 2, max 64... Total strokes at 93, should be 1200. Obviously not working. Distance at 1400, should be at 6500... Nothing working at this point. Garmin rowing picks up strokes just fine, so it's not the watch.

Have downloaded to vivoactive 4, can get app to run, but cant work out how to stop and save session, only way to stop is to shut down watch, which means there is no saved data to sync?????

Good concept and works while being used but doesn’t seem to sync with Garmin Connect. It installs on the watch but not on my iPhone in Connect. If I want the data I must keep it running and copy all the data to paper. On the phone Connect keeps asking me to download and install and that it will be available after the next Sync but doesn’t show up.

Not bad. But very irritating to have it default to the non-paid version. (I've paid version) I see you have a work around : "....to prevent this is to disable the AutoUpdate of CIQ feature." Please tell me where i find this? My watch is a FR245. Thanks
