I just used this app yesterday for a marathon and it worked perfectly. I will never run a race without this app again! Every field is useful but particularly the field that shows if you are ahead or behind your time goal. I wouldn't have hit my goal time if it wasn't for this field pushing me to run faster! Thank you for such a great app!

I love the look of the app, and while I agree that the whole 'miles' distance unit thing doesn't make any sense, I live in the US and it is the mess I have to live with, any chance of selecting 'miles' as a units preference or using the units as specified in the app.

Choose settings - system -units and select the right settings there. Also make sure to set the lap size to 1609 in the app settings (so that it corresponds with an autolap of 1 mile). Cheers peter

I've been using the Data Field for a couple of years and it has served me very well indeed, both in training and during races. I hadn't spotted there was also an app version. One thing I'm not clear about are the pros / cons of using the app vs. the Data Field. All thoughts / comments on this would be greatly received.

It has been on my to do (for a while now) to make a page that compares all my pacer apps, but I just haven't got to it yet (writing documentation isn't as much fun as creating a new app, but someday I'll get to it). I ran my first 10k using this data screen. I really liked the combination of heart rate, smoothed pace and ahead//behind timer. It helpt me keep a steady pace throughout, using the ahead and behind time to compensate for uphill and downhill sections and occasionally glancing at my heart rate to make sure I wasn't going in the red too hard. Being able to adjust the distance at each km sign worked really well too. Using the manual lap button I could see the exact time for every km and knowing the distance was correct made me have the confidence to speed up in the last section, beating my target time. I donated and intend to use it for my first half marathon in a couple of weeks.

I ran the Copenhagen halfmarathon with this yesterday and 10k in Malmø the week before and this is a great app for racing. Both the behind/ahead field and especially the possibility to align "distance" (and the pace fields + the estimated finish time) once in a while with the official markers on the road during the race were extremelly helpfull (at the end people around me were "beeping" 100m before the official distance markers - GPS can be off by a lot, but I think most of it has to do with the impossibility to run the ideal line in a bigger race). Just a remark. It would be good to add an additional payment method for donating - paypal is hardly used in the Czech Republic. I think the case might be similar for other central and eastern Europeian countries.

Hi Vincent, the review system is not intended for support questions, it's preferred to use the support topic or the contact developer option. It's a Garmin bug that when a new version of the app is installed through gcm that all settings are erased (both in express and gcm). Cheers, Peter.

Yesterday I run a HM with the racer app. App performed well REQ: Race was at 18:00 and in the forest. This makes reading of the ETA time almost impossible. Please make the bottom line font bigger. I know there is not so much space but hope removing the text ETA will give a bit more space. Hope you can do the same at the top line

Hey Enver, glad the app performed so well in your race! Data fields are very tight in the memory budget that they allow. With all the functionality already consuming a lot of memory, this means that I can not import custom fonts and have to rely on the system fonts that are being provided (I can't increase the font size of system fonts, they are as they are...). Really like this app, it has provided me with exactly the timing and pacing data that I have been looking for, and is extremely helpful in predicting a finish time, as well as showing me where I am at in terms of a certain goal time. I have used it for a 5k, a 10 miler, and two half marathons now. The one issue I'm having with it, however, - and perhaps the developer can provide some insight - during my half marathons, I had my Forerunner 235 running a workout to notify me for each 10 min run / 1 min walk interval. I'm not 100% certain, but I have a feeling that the end of each interval was being logged as a lap, which ended up confusing the Race Pacer app distance data. By the time I was at about 17 km, the distance data on one screen was as much as 2km different than the distance data showing on the Race Pacer app screen, and hitting the lap button on the Race Pacer app screen didn't fix the distance, it only ended the walk/run interval. I'm guessing the app doesn't work well with that kind of interval workout also running on the watch.

hi Todd, Glad you really like my app. For support questions preferably use the support topic http://bit.ly/peterspacer . While using Peter's (Race) Pacer you should indeed not use workouts as workouts not only takes control over the lap button functionality, but have the additional undesirable side-effect of calling the lapPress function at interval end with an undesirable distance correction as a result. Wonderful app. Used it in the 2017 NYC Marathon, and I used it to bank some time early in the race, but not too much, so I would be ahead of my pace for the big bridge and fatigue at the end. Best thing was I could keep my mind relaxed and enjoy the event and not spend time doing mental math! Thanks Peter!

Brilliant data field -- used it this weekend to crush my PR on a half marathon. It kept me from convincing myself I could slow down a little and not be affected. I was also able to see the progress I was making as I pushed tempo through the middle/late miles against my goal time.
