Tried a few for hiking / walking this is by far the best I can tune in what i want or drop the othets. The breadcrumb is very important for hiking or biking as we are off the beaten path. I wish for a complete set of instructions as going to the forum is getting it in pieces. I thank the developer for a very useful app for my vivoactive HR

Stuck on the "Waiting for GPS" screen. There seems to be a problem with accessing the GPS. VAHR v3.30 (GPS v3.00)

You likely can't get GPS in a standard app from that location, as I'm just telling the firmware to start GPS. Turning the watch off and both on should resolve both or change your location a bit.

I can't enter the menu. How do I do that? I have a Forerunner 735XT

On a 735XT (and the 230 and 235), menu is a long press of the up button.

I like it and it works great. Just wat's needed for a longer walk. Just I don't know how to upload a set of waypoints (turning points on a planned walk). Is there any detailed description (or I'm blind?)? An enhancement would be to integrate with uploaded tracks.

This is a fantastic app! Would be near-perfect it it were possible to display coordinates in BNG format - any chance of adding that? http://www.bgs.ac.uk/data/webservices/convertform.cfm

It's great on my VAHR. However, despite what the compatibility list says, it does not show up on my Fenix 3 IQ Market, so I couldn't install it there. Perhaps instead of "Fenix chronos" it should say "Fenix 3" and "Fenix 3 HR", who knows...

The fenix chronos (which is CIQ 2.x) is the only one in the fenix family that's supported. With the f3 and f3-hr (CIQ 1.3) there's not enough memory on them. The list of compatible devices is correct. Hike2 is only for CIQ 2.x devices.

App runs great on my VivoActive HR. Very easy to use and informative. My ONLY complaint is the font is way to small, to the point that without my reading glasses the apps almost not usable for me. Would be great if the number of screen could be configured and the fonts made about the size of the built in Garmin apps.

With version 2.01, before you press "start" you can press "menu" (actually a long press of "start") and get a menu where you can switch between walk and hike, as well as change the background between black and white. In "translate", I see that the heart rate is "truncated". If you mean too small, there's also a Heart Rate screen in 2.01, with current, average and max HRs, as well as a graph of the firmware's 4-hr history..

Just finished a long hike today, app worked well but in the past I recall it would also record the floors climbed however today this feature didn't. Did this change in the latest version?

Risposta sviluppatore

On the va-hr, it seems that with the 2.80 FW there was a problem with counting floors. Garmin has released 2.90 FW to fix this issue.

This app is great, it would be perfect it could also show grid references as the watch does not allow switching between apps without stopping this app first, grid refs would make it complete all in one super app

OMG I love this app! My wife and I both have Vivoactive HR watches and this app is fun and useful. It has a lot of data that can be displayed or hidden as you desire. Plus the track can be uploaded to Basecamp if the watch is connected to your computer. We have a nice GPS too (yeah I know we are tech heavy), but we found ourselves looking at the app data much more than the GPS. Thank you so much for making such a nice app for all of us.

I've used this app on several hikes in Colorado and it's worked great! My favorite default screen is the one showing current altitude and ascent/descent, but I really like being able to flip to the other screens to check the other data. Being able to save a simple waypoint and get a buzz when I'm approaching it again has been helpful for finding the way back.

Combines a ton of functionality into a single app. I love all the data at my finger tips. I wish when the data was uploaded to connect that it would come through as either hike or walk, but I have a sneaky suspicion that only the official Garmin apps can set those parameters. Everything is shown under ask activities, and it also ports to mapmyhike well. Might be nice if there was also a way to set up gps scan interval and turn the screen off during the activity to save a little bit of juice. My watch has run pretty low on a couple of the longer hikes. Highly recommend this app.
