This Datafield calculates your training load based on your heart activity. The HRSS depends on exercise duration and intensity. The HRSS is based on an exponential scaling factor equation.

The HRSS code is according to the web extension Elevate (former Name: Stravistix): http://thomaschampagne.github.io/elevate/

According to Stravistix, HRSS is more accurate than the Training Impulse TRIMP since it takes care of the user Lactate Threshold Heart Rate (LTHR). LTHR is the best average heart rate that an athlete can maintain for up to an hour. Training one hour at the LTHR results in an HRSS of 100.

Great datafield, together with Running Index of the same developer one of my favorites! A nice addition would be if it could read the heart rate related data from the user profile. Great job!

Great for use in structured training if (like me) a power meter is out of reach.

Finally I have a way to estimate my training effort. It allows me to compare MTB session with running session.

To your first questions: The switch from HRSS total to HRSS per hour can be changed with Garmin Express on your desktop or with you mobile device Connect App. See the following link for more details https://apps.garmin.com/settingsHelp). To your second questions, please refer to the app description which provides some details how the algorithm works.

Bravo, it does what it claims to do, with exactness (+2-5%, I tried others...) related to tacx and vector 3. The best way for me to add the spinning classes to my golden cheetah profil. Thanks a lot for this piece of software!!!!!

I’ve completed a workout today and I do have this app installed but I can’t seem to find where the information is stored because I can’t see it on my Garmin connect app on my phone? Can anyone help?

Its works, but if the hr connection is lost for a moment for example a weak battery, it reset the field to 0 in the middle of the activity.

Anther thing I do not get. If HRSS is based on the TRIMPexp = sum(D x HRr x 0.64 x exp(y)) with y=HRr x 1.92 for men, where does the individual lactate threshold HR come into play? Thanks

That's a great application. It works just fine. Much much better and stable than stuff like TRIMP, TRIMP/hour etc. Great job man!
