I was hoping to use this to track Braxton Hicks, but the data clears after every session, and you can't use your watch for anything else during an active session. It's not practical unless you're in active labor. Even then, you lose all of your data if you stop the session. It needs to send the data to the Connect Garmin app to actually be useful for anyone.

1. Needs to be able to show past data while still in the recording mode. At the very least the data for the session you are currently in; otherwise, there's no use. You have to stop tracking just to see what you've tracked. It only shows the length of the last contraction, but the time between contractions is far more important. 2. You can't see this data from the mobile app, only from the device. 3. It tracks "rest time" not the traditional time from start of one contraction to the start of the next which is what everyone is looking for. I loooove the idea of having it on my watch so I can quickly track contractions as I go about my day instead of overanalyzing, but this is not nearly as helpful as it could be.

The idea is awesome, but it has several major issues. The inclusion of heart rate data is neat, but without fixing these crucial design flaws, the app is next to useless. 1. The biggest issue is that the app doesn’t close up when you finish recording contraction activity. You have to restart the whole watch. 2. You cannot look at average time between contractions until you close out a recording session. The most useful measure would be average time between contractions for the most recent hour. Instead all you can see is the length of your last contraction which is minimally useful. 3. It measures length and rest, but traditionally contractions are timed from the beginning of one contraction from the beginning of the last, not the beginning of one from the END of the last. So if you needed to give the data to a birth support worker or doctor, you wouldn’t be speaking in terms of the same figures.
