This app is designed for competitive running. If you run a distance (for instance a 10K, half marathon or marathon to say the more typical, but distance is configurable) and you aim for a time objective, then this app may be for you. I would like it to be a data field but that is not possible because Connect IQ SDK does not allow access lap information to data fields.

Let's say that you are running a marathon and you want to complete it under 3h 20 min. You pass the distance marker for the 35th kilometer on a 2h 45m 12s. Are you doing well? I am good with numbers, but after running for almost 3 hours, I am not in the mood for doing these kind of calculations.

Very good App! At first try I achieved spot on time. I mean spot on. Not even 1 sec faster or slower! If you know your race pace give this app a try. Perfect for FR 235. Big THANK YOU! for the developer!

A really neat app, used it on a recent 10K race and it proved infallible! If only it supported mile markers, it would be just perfect - as it is it is not quite as useful for half-marathons... :(

Nice idea to correct the distance. But can I start the App and the running activity, to save the data in carminconnect?

Great app, all what you need without all what you don't need, exactly what I was looking for. It works perfectly, and it will be the app I will use during Berlin Marathon. The rest of the work to be done is now on my side!

nice app! configuration needs to be done in the mobile app not on the forerunner itself!!!

Great idea, very well executed! If I may suggest one feature, it would be to make the laps distance 100% configurable (i.e the user input it themselves in meters). It could then support km, miles, 400m for track running etc in one swoop.

Great idea and I am patiently waiting for an update for miles - hoping that is in place before the Long Beach Marathon in Oct 2016. :-) HOWTO: SET TIME AND DISTANCE! * Please note that you cannot set the time/distance from the watch. * You must set the distance/time from your phone in the *Garmin Connect App* -- not on the watch directly. It's easy to do, but also easy to miss. Please consider changing 1-star ratings if that was the reason. As a software developer, I know how discouraging it is when you work many hours to build an app, give it away for FREE, and people rate it as "terrible". A more positive rating will surely lead to more motivation to improvements. :)

I use it on FR630. Lap button not works so you have to find to use back button to established kilometer mark. But the worst is that any touch of the screen is stopped the timer !!!!! Any drop of water can made it on 630 - very sensitive for water, splash, raining - it works like finger touch. It happened to me last race, when run under water curtain (because of hot weather) CAN YOU SWITCH IT OFF PLEASE - JUST BUTTON START AND STOP

Not really valuable in the US yet as most races don't have Km markers. Screens look good though

Great concept and needed for serious pacing given the inaccuracy of GPS. Downloaded it to the FR235 and the app runs. However, how do I set the target distance and time? I only get the default 1:32 for a HM and cannot find out how to change that. Tks for your help.

Good application and the concept with the markers is good, but since I am running I dont want to look at the watch often, in my Polar watch the watch gives a tone and vibration when I am behind my target time, it will get faster in frequency in tone and vibration the farther I fall behind.

Firstly, thank you for writing this! This is a great concept and one I have craved for many years and hoped Garmin would add into the default watch long before we even had ConnectIQ. Please, please, please can you add mile support so I can start using it (most races I participate in have mile markers). What would be great is if this could set multiple race targets - rather than just a final target - so you can check your progress at different intervals e.g. Target 1 - 5K in 25 mins Target 2 - 10K in 48 mins Final target - HM in 100 mins This way you can use it as a pacing tool as well for different types of training run or to pace yourself appropriately in races e.g. targetting a negative split, or varying marathon pacing in different thirds of the race etc... I'm actually finding that the 235 is usually taking mile lap splits way before the dedicated mile markers, whereas my old 610 was doing the opposite. I hope this app can help 'reset' expectations along the way! Looking forward to updates and hope that the API allows you to make this a datafield one day too.
