Indeed, the watch face needs to be connected to your phone to update the weather. The GPS only provides the geolocation, which is needed so that you get the local weather. However, what you can do is change in the watch face's settings how often the weather is updated, e.g. to 5 minutes (the setting is called "Update Weather Info Every"). That will make it more likely that you have the latest weather info in case you don't have a consistent connection between your watch and your phone. It may however affect your watch's battery life somewhat.

The best face keeps getting better and better - one possible suggestion for an interesting option: how about for the steps % completed, an option to change the color (of either the steps icon, or the text, or both) to a different color once the % goal passes 100. Like, X color under 100, and then Z color once past 100. Something to consider..... :)

I had the seconds occasionally freezing at 00 - similar to what another user had experienced. The explanation about Garmin's software disabling some real time updates to save power made sense - as I also had 2 real time fields (seconds and heart rate). Decided that I could do without the seconds. All's good.
Feature request:
(1) Would like an option to be able to turn off battery info (icon & percentage).
(2) Be able to customize different colours for other fields instead of 1 single foreground colour (e.different colours for date/time, weather. heart rate, etc)..

The new update (v. 2.6) should now allow you to have seconds and real-time heart rate at the same time. However, if you use both at the same time, the heart rate is only updated once every 3 seconds instead of every second (in order to stay within the power budget). The options that you mention make sense. So I implemented them: you can turn of the battery info altogether and colour all the things.

Really like the simplicity of this face. One issue: I have most recent version with live HR but that seems to get “stuck” sometimes, along with the seconds. The seconds get stuck on 00 most minutes and the HR seems stuck for this time too. These may be linked? All in all, v good and simple! Really like it, thank you.

Thanks for reporting this issue. I have just reproduced it myself. Apparently, with two real-time updating fields (seconds + heart rate) the watch face can end up using slightly too much power; Garmin's software then promptly disables the real-time updates to save you battery.
I'll see whether I can make the relevant code more efficient to fix this issue in a future update. In the meantime, the only fix is to avoid having both seconds and real-time heart rate enabled.

I use this WF a lot, but a general issue I have with other WF as well is the notification count. It is related to the general lock screen notifications, right? And it has a maximum of 25? A better function would be if it only showed notifications for a specific app, like mail/text/messenger etc. Is that doable?

Unfortunately, Garmin's API only gives us the total number of notifications and nothing more. I also don't expect for this to change any time soon since Garmin probably doesn't want to provide any more detailed info about notifications to third party applications for privacy considerations.
Of course, if you are on Android, you can filter the notifications that are sent to your watch to begin with. But as far as I know that does not work on iOS.

Mh, that is hard to tell. Could you write me using the 'contact developer' link? I assume that you have followed the instructions in the 'How to enable current weather' section of the watch face description. If something goes wrong after that, the watch face should display some kind of error message where the weather info should be.

The best weather face for my Vivoactive 3. Wish the face could just use the weather data that's already on the watch instead of getting it from that website. It would also be good to update the weather more frequently than every 30 minutes. I am pleased overall to have found this after upgrading from my faithful old Pebble Steel.

The watch face now offers the option to change the frequency of updating the weather info. I haven't tested the impact on battery life with anything else than the default setting of 30 minutes, though.
I agree, it would be much less effort for me and any user of the watch face if I could just use the weather data that the watch already has. Alas, to the best of my knowledge this is not supported by Garmin's software at the moment.

I have just updated the watch face, which now has the option to update the heart rate in real-time. In earlier versions, the heart rate was only updated once per minute. With the real-time heart rate you should get a much better updated heart rate value, but it might have a (small) impact on battery life.

Love the new update! One comment on the option of steps goal: Looks like the percentage shown stays ‘stuck’ at 100%, no matter how much you go over it. BEST watch face for sure!!

Yeah, I don't know why I thought capping the percentage at 100 was a good idea. I removed that restriction now.
