Western Wheelers Pace Calculator

This data field calculates a Climbing-Adjusted average speed in miles per hour. Our club uses this system for rating club rides and it has good predictive power for estimating ride time on hilly terrain. The correction factor, hilliness, is equal to feet/mile/25, and is generally between 0 and 4.

An example: Assuming you ride 17mph on flat terrain, on a century with 5000ft of climbing (hilliness = 2), you should expect to average 15mph on your bike during the ride. This data field will display 17mph during that century. This data field displays your average speed in mph without correction for the first 1km of your ride.

Re-compiled for 530, 830, and 1030.

Awesome app! Really helpful to compare the average speed in this app to the overall average speed since it takes climbs into consideration. Gives truer feedback on performance when you have hills as part of your rides.

Robert ‘s program is great, I use it on my rides to get a feeling for how hard I’m going and makes me feel better about my slow speeds on the climbs. It’s also useful when leading rides to keep me from going faster than the listed speed.
