Nice app: it let’s me know instantly about my power and stores them in the Garmin Connect that I can analyze later!! It may be not perfect but it solves all my necessities!! Good job!!

I had a lot of expectations, but it looks as if the (default) settings are incorrect. I have peaks of more than 1900W and a average of almost 400W. My FTP is not even 200W, so this is far from realistic. Is there something with the (default) settings that needs to be adjusted to get more realistic values?
Because I still hope it will work, I will rate it as "OK", but for now it does not work.

I thought at least this will be a good "live" estimate, especially going uphill but there must be some serious problems with the maths involved (or how data is provided by garmin). I would have liked the numbers displayed but strumbling around with 300 W on a recovery ride, pretty unrealistic...
I have a feeling that aerodynamic drag/rolling resistance is massively overestimated in standard configuration, e.g. going a bit downhill with no preassure on the pedals generated watt numbers around 250 W
To summarize: Better display hm/h and the gradient on your garmin to give you a feeling on how hard you are pressing the pedals, or get a powermeter...

app doesn't work on climb or anytime that the gradient change...on climb goes to zero on descent calculate too much watt...works better till some months ago...but now unuseful

Warning MTB fans, this app is based on speed, so for guys like me, is not useful, I had a power of 280 watts descending and 15 watts in a steep climbing. No make sense for MTB.
Is clear that the programmer did an excellent job for other kind of bikes,Road, Triathlon etc.

I use this with a fixed gear bike and Garmin 520. It seems like the app doesn't recognize the grade of hills: going uphill (low cadence, slower speed) I get pretty low power estimates. Going downhill (sometimes 140+ cadence and 30+ mph) vPower is 450w+. That's the opposite of the power meter readings on my other bike. The app seems pretty accurate on flats and low grades. Any thoughts?

I used to be quite happy with the data shown. But the new release with the “no cadence“ option does not make any sense at all. Is there a possibility to use the app without this nonsense?

Sorry for that Stephan. The calculation should however work correctly if a cadence sensor is connected.

Great for what it is, downloaded 5 different virtual power data field apps for my Fenix 3 hr, and tested against my Garmin power meter, and this was by far the most accurate and stable.
I just wish the data shown, could be uploaded to Connect with the rest of the ride data, is that even possible????

You also could match the values that calculate with BPM...
With BPM you have another way to calculale Power.
Maybe both inaccurate ways to calculate virtual power would be better tan one :) And decide if do an average or a weighted average towards one or another depending of the moment (Changes of bpms, altitude, cadence or so...)
As powercal, with a little TEST with a real power sensor at home (in the trainer) you could calibrate or ask for results to get BPM/power rates and so...
Then when going outside with any bike without power sensor, trying to estimate it better... In example for me at this moment, at constant efforts aprox:
167W - 115bpm
228W - 140bpm
274W - 159bpm
319W - 177bpm
365W - 185bpm

A few weeks ago. VPower only collect peaks of data while cycling. I replace the sensor but nothing happend. All other sensor on different bikes show the same result. What has happend ??

Is ok in the flat route. During the climb it don't work beacuse don't read the % of slope and set wrong power ( normally from 10 to 70 watt max) . To calcolate the power the reading of the slope is necessary. I hope to use it with the next upgrade .

Slope is included in calculation, although it depends on the device accuracy also. I hope latest version shows better results.

I wonder if other have experienced it, but since the last update I am getting very low values - avg of 25W with a max of 65W...
Before the last update it was all working properly - the only difference is that I changed the average value to 10 seconds, I changed it back to 3 in the middle of the ride but it had no effect...
Before this update it was working really nice.. any idea?

It doesn't work on my edge 1030. I obtain amazing high power values descending, while power is close to 0 climbing. It seems that calculation is not taking into account my weight and/or bike's, although they are correctly set in my profile (me) and in the data field configuration (bike)

awesome, I use it since the day one, always improving..
the only problem, the beginning of the ride is very often a peak about 1000 watt or more, so the power graph on the website becomes less visible..
sometime I press the start button while moving on a flat road not pushing on pedals and it helps, but not always..
