It's a datafield so, you need to add it to a sport activity, as explained in the text description of the app. Thanks

Thanks, I am looking forward to test it. BTW how to change units to km/h? Jan (Vovoactive 3)

Hello Jan and thanks for your comment. To change speed unit, just connect your device to your computer (or smartphone) and access the settings tab of the datafield; here, you will be able to change parameters.

Hello. This DF works well for Fenix 5S. Just download it from the store, open a standard activity (or create a new one) and set the first field by adding this IQ app you should see on the list. That's all. Prefer to use Garmin Connect mobile for that as there are some issue with Garmin Express.

I tried it while skating. Jumps seems to be wrong. Highest jump 6,5 m and airtime 25 s :D I didn’t leave the ground. Hope that it will be fixed.

Works well. As others say, the jump time is wrong (Had a "20sec" jump that was only 4sec MAX).

Used for the first time today on my fenix 5.. awesome data.. just what I wanted from this device tbh. Able to immediately see speed and jump height in real time is awesome (although agree air time is inaccurate). Just wondering why the best 10s and 30s run stats plus jump height and air time stats periodically stop appearing on the summary data for the activity? I can still get the altitude graph but the stats do not show up (normally in the IQ section at the bottom) after ive viewed them once and exited the app? Thanks for the efforts tho. Hope it keeps improving!

Great work developer! Jump time appears inaccurate but love this functionality. Well done.

Wow wahta fantastic ide to ad it as a Datafield. I have added it to my already pre programmed kite activity, and it works jiust wonders. For as long as I have had the Fenix 3 (more then 2 years) i have always wanted to have a countdown timer with a Synk function. Any chance you can make that as a data field so I can add that so me sailing activity ? The pre installed in the watch does not ahve a "Synk" function. And all the timers are made as applications, so I cannot yse them in my own activity.

It's written just above, in the description ! How to install: This is a data field not an application and needs to be added to a single data screen within a sport activity. 1- go to settings, apps, sport activity, data screen, screen 1 2- set layout to 1 field 3- set field 1 to ConnectIQ Fields, JMGDTFWindKiteSurf

What a great windsurfing datafield, thank you. I had previously played around on my Fenix 5 and created my own windsurfing activity but this lacked most of the specialist metrics in WindKite DF. I created a new page in my activity, set it to a single field and imported WindKite DF with no difficulty whatsoever. :o)

26 November 2017 | Version 1.25

Love it. How to do i extract data from it? I have synced with GC, but it shows wild altitude changes that don't seem to reflect the "best jump" reading that the data field displayed during the kite session?

I don't understand how to install this. I red all the reviews and explanations...can you explain in a simple way. I windsurf and was really exited about this, but can't use it.

Hello, this app is a data field, not a widget or an app so, you need to import/add it in a sport activity. So, here the steps: - first of all, downloading the DF - create or use an existing sport activity (you can copy an activity from another one, or a blank / new one) - choose the number of fields you would like to have (number of screens) - on the chosen screen you prefer, choose the one field layout - add and search for the IQ fields and insert the WindKite DF - setup the other screens as your convenience - save the activity setup and exit - enter the activities menu and select the one you just configure and launch it. All these steps are normally described in detail in your device manual. That’s it, you are ready to ride !

Really good data field! You should make it an app! Which sport do you use this data field with?

Three stars only because you don't know how to install a DF in your device...? Thank you. A DF has to be inserted as a new IQ field in a sport activity as your choice. You set the new field in one field layout format and you search for the present DF. After that, you save the new activity created and exit it. Then, you enter the activities and launch the new one just created, and you will see the DF.

Hello again , the idea behind it is great , but the data field is 9 out of 10 wrong , it always gives like jumps of 30 meters or even 90 meters , I am puting 5 stars because it works on small jumps like 1-2 meters but once you go further up its all wrong data , I am curios how do you calculate the jumps ?

Developer Reply
18 August 2017, Surfy66

Hello Rebetiko and thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, we can not access accelerometer and sensors in real time within a data field so, I can only catch the altitude read by the GPS altimeter. The only two ways could be: change the GPS mode to see if it's better with another tracking mode (GPS + GLONASS for example) or, transform this DF in an application which allows the use of sensors (accelerometer). I have to think about that possibility otherwise I can not change anything in this data field to compensate the lacks of the GPS accuracy, and I am sorry for that.

06 August 2017 | Version 1.11

Hi there , the app is absolutely brilliant but I will give it 4 stars for these reasons : 1. Some session of my kite it dosent save at all any jump 2. Today went kiting jumped 5.6 meters and it showed 53 meters 3. The other went kiting did a 8.6 jump on woo sports device while wearing the fenix and in the fenix it showed 12,3 ( maybe because the woo is on lower and the watch not ??! ) But its a great idea and a great app ps: It would be great if you could add all the jumps ie not just the biggest jump but all of them and the minute that they are made . Keep on the good work mate and thank you , next week I will buy you a paypal beer :D

Hello Rebetiko, and many thanks for your comment. I don't practice kitesurfing but windsurfing mostly on flat water so, I can't really test the height of jumps. Garmin devices are not intended to be used for calculating altitude during a short or very short period so, it is quite challenging to calculate and obtain this value. I will do my best to optimize the formula next in the future. About your suggestion, with this new version 1.11, you can now see all your jumps on a graph in your profile activities. And thanks in advance for the cold beer );

Hello Andrea and thanks for your comment. Your suggestion is a good idea but not very useful for this kind of data field that you are supposed to use 'in situ' when you are already on the spot. There are some good apps for checking wind conditions (Windfinder, Windguru) before, and I prefer to keep the remaining memory space for adding useful functionalities.
