Ride Ratios

Description

This little data field allows the rider to track the distance ridden on Paved Roads -vs- Dirt/Gravel Roads and Paths. Made for touch screen EDGE devices, you just tap on the box when you transition from one to the other surface type. It also writes to the device's log file so after the ride you can check exactly where these transitions occurred.

It would be great if vertical climb was included in each category. Many of my gravel rides have more vertical climb than the paved. Thanks

This is a very helpful IQ app if you do mixed road (paved/unpaved for old riders, paved/gravel for the youngster ;-). Very easy to use: 1. Just add a Data Screen with Ride Ratio and 3 fields will show up. Paved, Grave, Totals. 1.1 When you start the ride tap the corresponding one 1.2 When a new surface comes tap the other one and so on. 1.3 Use the totals to move to a new screen. You use the total because tapping will not have any effect. If you use the other two to switch screens you accidentally may tap it. 2. The info in those fields is very informative and very easy to read it does not loop so you can glance it on and off without loosing your focus on the road. 3. After you are done and stop the activity then you open Garmin Connect (phone, browser or even you can setup a PWA). When you open the new activity you will see the map and many graphics below (elevation, power etc) that you can switch on or hide (Customize Charts). Below the Garmin graphics are the IQ app graphics (like Ride Ratio). When you move the cursor you will see where on the map are the changes in surface, very neat. Here few of my tips: 2.1 Go to the Ride Ratio chart and click the Double head and it will maximize the graphic 2.2 Click on the down arrow menu and select Distance which if more informative than Time 3.3 Click on the down arrow menu and select up to 2 overlays I often do Elevation and Power. 4. Dave added more info in a single line Txt field "Connect IQ" where you have the distance traveled in both surfaces and the percentage. Garmin constrains make the developers unable to add more info here. But.... 5. The info in the data screen is pretty complete, however it will go away as soon as you stop the activity so if you want to keep it : 1. Memory or 2. write it down or 3. Take a screen picture before you stop the activity. (To take a picture on the Garmin 830 Menu/System/Display/turn-on screen capture)So Press Power Button and then stop the activity.

I would be a 5 Stars but.. if garmin get disconnected and you have to restart it, the miles everything is ok but this app does not remember and whatever you did or mark does not count. It can take the totals from garmin but the miles of gravel or paved marked before are not there.
