Bike Power (Watts) for Kinect Road Machine Trainer

Description

Grab a garmin speed/cadence sensor, a 920XT and a Kinetc Road Machine Trainer and get instant Watts data field without a powermeter ! Based on Kinect's publlished power equation, this app calculates the power in this trainer based on speed. Just use always the same setup (tire pressure AND trainer load) and you have a very accurate indoor power meter (suggested 110 lbs and 5 turns). Next versions will include writing power to .fil file and another app to show avg power. Version 1.0.1 includes 3 sec smoothness. Version 1.0.2 includes a -60 watts offset.

Great idea. If you are looking to make it work on other models have a look at this thread to give you an idea of popularity of other models. http://www.tritalk.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1473100 (they all have power but maybe not ANT+). If you ask MECHGT on the sporttracks forum he might tell you the more popular ones from a similar plugin he wrote called TRAINER POWER.

Thanks! Works great. Hopefully Garmin will eventually allow datafields to access the fit files so this can be saved.

Cool concept, power readings seemed right in line with virtual power in Trainer Road. Very disappointed that the power data track does not get saved in the fit file. It does not show up on GC or in SportTracks. I suspect this is some Garmin limitation, but to me this is a big disappointment.
