Name: Overhead Orbit: ISS & Satellite Radar
Author: Varsuite

Overhead Orbit shows you the satellites above you right now, and when the International Space Station will pass over. From the makers of Overhead: Live Aircraft Radar.

Sky radar
Your watch becomes a chart of the sky: the centre is straight up, the edge is the horizon, and it turns with your compass so the top is the way you are facing. About 150 of the brightest satellites glide across it live.
• Bright green: you can see it with your own eyes right now (it is in sunlight while your sky is dark).
• White: sunlit, but your sky is too bright to see it.
• Grey ring: in Earth's shadow.
The ISS, the Chinese space station Tiangong and the Hubble Space Telescope are marked by name, and the selected satellite shows its path for the next few minutes.

Upcoming passes
The next 48 hours of passes for the ISS, Tiangong and Hubble, with the time, how high it climbs, where it rises and sets, and whether you will be able to see it.

Guide me
An arrow turned by your compass and a height gauge point you to the satellite. Before it rises it counts down and points to where it will appear, and the watch buzzes when it rises and when it becomes visible.

Pass reminders
Before a visible pass the watch asks if you want to open the app, so you do not miss it. Choose 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes' notice in the settings, or turn reminders off.

Also
• Glance: the next pass at a flick of the wrist.
• Details: height, speed, distance, direction, orbit and next pass of any satellite.
• North up mode if you prefer a fixed chart.
• Settings: how high a pass must climb to be listed (10 to 45 degrees).

How it works
Satellite orbits are downloaded through your phone at most twice a day: about 25 KB, no account, no key. Everything else, including every position and pass, is worked out on the watch, so it keeps working away from your phone. Orbits come from CelesTrak (celestrak.org), passed on by a small Varsuite server that splits them into pieces a watch can receive. Passes are predicted to within a few seconds; orbits can change, so check again on the day for the most accurate times.

Requirements and limits
• A phone connection to download orbits (then it works offline for days).
• Your location from GPS. The app asks for a fix when it opens and remembers the last one.
• The compass turns the chart; without it, use North up.
• Which satellites look bright also depends on their size and angle to the Sun, so some marked visible may be faint.

Privacy
Your location never leaves the watch. The app only downloads public orbit data, and sends nothing about you to get it. No account, no ads, no analytics.
