This Datafield calculates your

-Running Index

-Running Power in W

-Cardio Drift in %

based on your heart rate, elevation and speed data collected with your Garmin device. The Running Index shows you how efficient you are running and is close to the Running Index of Polar TM (see here https://support.polar.com/en/support/tips/Running_Index_feature). The higher the value, the better is your running performance.

Thank you for the great application. I missed the Running Index in Garmin a lot. I'm using the app with Fenix 6 pro and despite having weather data turned on, I don't see the influence of the wind on the gauges. The watch has access to weather data because I can see it on the watch face. What am I doing wrong?

Very useful! I appreciate it has also a plugin for the Garmin Connect android app that allows me to see all the captured data in the standard location (in the app) and in nice graphs! Thank you very much for all the work!

lots of great information my only problem is the lack of ability to change the readout to SAE vs metric.

So i have a question about the Cardiac Drift in %. How do i read this? I see that it goes up 10, and down -10 and im reading my graph now and it shows my peak to be at -9 then steadily rises to around -5... what does a negative in % mean in cardiac drift?

Generally the drift is shown in % change relative to a pre-defined basis or reference at the beginning which can be selected in the settings. I can sometimes happen that the HR sensor shows faulty, unnormally high readings at the beginning of your activity (e.g. if the strap is too dry). Once you get more sweaty the HR returns to normal. At the end can lead to negative drift values because the rreference basis was too high.

Great app. Specialy for polar users. Is there any way to enable the power metrics from android app ? I see this future in ios app

Thanks for providing this field. I want to try the wind-adjusted speed. I'm using Forerunner 645 Music with SDK 3.2.3 (System/Info). Receive weather data from mobile phone is activated in settings. But wind-equivalent distance is zero after my first two runs. Is there something else to do to receive weather data from my phone?

Did you activate also "Wind-adjusted Running Index?" If yes, I think that the FR 645 is not supported yet. It is currently not listed in 'Supported devices' : Captain Marvel D2™ Air Darth Vader™ Descent™ Mk2 / Descent™ Mk2i First Avenger Forerunner® 245 Forerunner® 245 Music Forerunner® 745 Forerunner® 945 fēnix® 6 / 6 Solar / 6 Dual Power fēnix® 6 Pro / 6 Sapphire / 6 Pro Solar / 6 Pro Dual Power / quatix® 6 fēnix® 6S / 6S Solar / 6S Dual Power fēnix® 6S Pro / 6S Sapphire / 6S Pro Solar / 6S Pro Dual Power fēnix® 6X Pro / 6X Sapphire / 6X Pro Solar / tactix® Delta Sapphire / Delta Solar / Delta Solar - Ballistics Edition / quatix® 6X / 6X Solar / 6X Dual Power MARQ™ Adventurer MARQ™ Athlete MARQ™ Aviator MARQ® Captain / MARQ® Captain: American Magic Edition MARQ™ Commander MARQ™ Driver MARQ™ Expedition MARQ™ Golfer Rey™ Venu™ Venu™ Mercedes-Benz® Collection Venu® Sq Venu® Sq. Thank you Rider88. I really like this feature as a former Polar user. A suggestion: Can we customize what to base cardiac drift from, or maybe get some alternatives for changing the base, like e.g.: 0-10min avg HR/pace relationship (current default), 10-20min, 20-30min, etc. I think the first 10min avg HR/speed relationship isn't so interesting. Generally my HR is low the first 10min, so drift will always occur. Personally I would like to see maybe the 10-20min avg hr-pace ratio and thereafter calculate the drift from that.

Great data field, also use HRSS [Heart Rate Stress Score] of the same developer

As a former Polar user, I find this data field great. Running index is an excellent measure of running efficiency but unfortunately Garmin does not have anything of their own. But you can have it by using this brilliant data field!

Great datafield, i like it very much, and it very quickly became one of my favorites to use! I additionally use the datafield "Heart Rate Stress Score" from the same developer. Because i find both datafields extremely useful in training, and due to Garmin limiting the number of CIQ fields to 2 on many devices, I'd love to have a combo datafield of these two. Maybe this can be a suggestion for a future development :)

This is great. As a an original Polar user years ago, Running Index was key to monitoring my improvement in running efficiency. This datafield does exactly that. Perfect. As this index is sport specific, it would be great to see another for swimming or rowing etc.

Cool field. Never used polar before, but this seems similar to a vo2max calculation? Garmin Connect does graph the running index per run but not over time. If you use GoldenCheetah you can create a user metric and average the index for each day then graph from there.

As already mentioned that's a killer addition to a Garmin watches for people coming from Polar ecosystem. And for me even absolute value being calculated here matches what Polar used to calculate for me - that's really awesome. So thanks so much for doing it, really appreciate! And now I have 1 suggestion for improvement and 1 question. 1. I guess it might be helpful to add a note in the app's description that Running Index is being only calculated if corresponding "data field" was added to one of the activity's data pages. I.e. it's not enough to just install this app from here. 2. Is there a way to graph Running Index in Garmin Connect? In the app and even more importantly in Garmin's web-service. In the same way as in Polar Flow I may see how Running Index changes with time.

Many thanks for your feedback. I have updated the description accordingly. To my knowledge there is no way to graph Running Index in the same way as in Polar Flow for trending. I am also missing this but unfortunately this seems not to be supported by Garmin Connect!
