Metal Detector uses your watch's built-in magnetometer (compass sensor) to spot nearby metal — handy for finding dropped keys, coins or small metal parts.

HOW IT WORKS
• Hold the watch away from metal and press START (or tap the screen) to calibrate. The app asks you to, and reacts to nothing until you do
• Sweep your wrist over the ground or a surface — a colour bar shows how far the field has moved from your calibration: green is quiet, yellow is getting close, red is metal
• Gentle, sparse vibration near the threshold; strong, fast clicks only at a real peak, so it doesn't buzz on every tiny fluctuation
• The screen stays on while you scan

FREE AND PRO
Free is a working detector: the coarsest sensitivity setting and three calibrations a day. Your last calibration keeps working when they run out.
Pro unlocks adjustable sensitivity (1–10, down to 10 mG, for small objects) and unlimited calibrations. Tap Get Pro on the watch to show a QR code, and scan it with your phone to open the checkout. You then get a licence key: paste it into the app settings in Garmin Connect (License Key), and Pro turns on straight away.

GOOD TO KNOW
A smartwatch sensor reaches centimetres to a few tens of centimetres, depending on the object — a practical helper, not an industrial detector. The watch's own metal parts and strap magnets add noise, so calibrate while wearing it normally. A screen that stays on uses more battery than usual — this is for short scanning sessions.
