Hi Great app. Congratulations! I have some questions. When the app is configured to estimate the VO2 based on power, does it use heart rate as well? If not, how does it calculate the energy spent? I am asking because my VO2 max estimated by the app is a little bit higher than the one from the edge 520 (46 vs 50). Which method is more accurate? Thanks!

To be honest, without a Power meter (~£500+!!) I did not think this app (field) was actually going to do anything. After my first ride, I was surprised to see the VO2 graph on my Activity! Love the overlay feature - e.g. HR against VO2 For free - this is awesome! Not sure about calibration, QUESTION: how accurate it is against a scientific test? I can clearly see the relationship between VO2 and my exercise / HR etc. Do people find it reasonably accurate? For me, well at least its accurate to itself, so hopefully during my training regime over the coming months, I might see an improvement. I do have a cardio test coming up next month which will do a clinical VO2 test ( on an exercise bike) with very expensive lab equipment - it will be interesting to see the comparison. I'll attempt to update this review post the test! Great App!!

On Garmin Edge 820 the training effect is not Display. I have a heart sensor and a powermeter fsa powerbox. I await the next upgrade

Hello Leonello and thanks for your comment. First, this functionality works fine with all the devices supporting TE management. There are 2 models of Edge 820 (Edeg 820 and Edge 820 Explore) but it seems that the Edge 820 Explore does not calculate the Training Effect, as shown in this document (https://www.chullanka.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/FT-Edge-820-FR.pdf). I plan to delete / replace this value for all devices that do not support this TE data.

Hello, I have got another question. That's a great app, but on my Edge 820 the training effect is not displayed (the field always says 0). Was could be the reason? Till now I have used it only in indoor session (do not know if this can have an impact). Many thanks

Appears to be very accurate and fills a bit gap left by Garmin; thank you for making this available to us!

Hello.Sorry for the seemingly stupid question. Does this app need the VO2Max computed by my Edge820? And if yes, I need a power meter otherwise this would not work. Is that correct? Thanks

Hello and thanks for your question. This data field does not need the computed Garmin VO2 Max to work, it's a standalone datafield that calculates its own VO2 Max. And, this datafield can calculate your VO2 Max both with a power meter or a cardio sensor so, no need to have such device to use this datafield.

Hi, my query. How can I do to see the Vo2max data from the file generated in other analysis portals? Thank you very much from Argentina.

Hello Juan. Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, Garmin does not provide any compatibility to export new custom FIT data to other platforms, like Strava for example. So, custom data, like the VO2 max calculated from my data field, can only be seen in the Garmin environment.

This app is terrific. It tracks and graphs every important aspect of every ski run. All you have to do is start it at the start of your ski day and the app does the rest. Ron

Hi, Could this be used for calculating vo2max during motocross riding? Indication maybe if not exact? Or speed will be to high? Current Garmin standard vo2max (I chose cycling outdoors as activity type when I ride mx) seems to work decent at least.

Very nice, love it. I wish it would set my vo2max in the CIQ cycling vo2max section though. Question: is it possible to get weight and RHR from CIQ instead of setting it by hand?

Thanks for your comment Stefan: 1- we cannot modify the Garmin VO2 max, it's a protected data and Garmin does not allow us to modify it; 2- the datafield already get automaticaly these two value from the profile but, I added the possibility to force them just in the case they were not filled in into the profile, or there were a problem to get them.

Hello. You need to insert this datafield into a sport activity otherwise, you cannot use it as a standalone app.
