version 1.22 has issues with Quatix 5 (firmware 6.0). There is no way to get to settings, like Setting the Pin or TED. Pushing the middle left button always reverts to the watch general settings, not those for the App

This is a bug in the Quatix 5 firmware that Garmin have confirmed and will fix in the next FW release. Till then, sorry, our app won't run on the Q5 after all.

I bought my Garmin watch specifically for this app. I love that I don't have to take my phone out on the course to view my race in raceqs for post-race analysis. The watch app is phenomenal - like having a velocitek on your wrist. The ability to put marks into the watch is great too. I'd really like to be able to enter courses as well...

Great racing app. I love the connectivity, and especially being able to use data & record races using only my Garmin VivoActive HR watch. A bit of a learning curve setting it up and learning how to use it efficiently, but worth the effort. My only requests would be 1) make it possible to download and share race tracks from the Garmin Connect iPhone app (right now you have to plug your device into your computer to download files) and; 2) ability to personalize settings so that the screens don't automatically cycle (half the time I've wanted to check my speed I'd look at my watch and it would cycle away from that screen, so I'd have to swipe back again - doing that or waiting for the right screen is too much of a distraction while on the race course). Otherwise a great app! I also give 5-stars to raceQs customer support - excellent!

Re 1: you don't have to connect your watch to the PC to get the file: it's available from your browser at connect.garmin.com as an Activity, which you can then download as a GPX and upload to raceQs. Long term we hope to integrate more closely with Garmin and make that step automatic - but we're walking before running. And Re 2: If you long press on any of the dashboard screens, the scrolling will stop and you can stay on your chosen screen, A second ling press will re-start the scrolling. It's there by default for when you have wet hands and the touch screen doesn't respond.

Like this app. Currently testing it on a Quatix 5. Can you please add a section to the Training Manual explaining how to read the page for "Wind Shifts" (lifts and headers)?

Sweet app! Literally the only reason I purchased my Garmin watch, and no regrets! We are a novice crew on my boat, and the benefits of this app are amazing! For instance, we know it takes about 2:30 to douse the spinnaker and get the headsail back up, so when my watch says Time to Mark: 3min, we jump into action! Or, if I'm training someone on the main sheet, we can make an adjustment, and see how it changes our speed, either for the better or worse. Or, tack by tack, seeing how fast we went, our slowest speed, and my oversteer helps me concentrate on what is working, and what isn't through each tack, and just get better and better! (also shows how much the rum effects tacking precision as the race wears on....) Such a great training tool! I've also raced in some seriously low visibility conditions, and it is amazing how accurate the markers are. I remarked to my crew the other day as we were approaching a pin in heavy heavy fog "It says 90 sec to layline, and that we're pretty close to the mark - do you see it?" suddenly "ding ding ding" goes the can, and it was crazy close! We've won races because other boats tacked to soon, and we listened to the omnipotent voice of "the watch". It generally is more accurate in speed and degrees to the mark than Navionics, so, unless we're in particularly gnarly areas, I generally only use the watch app now. Only reason for 4 stars is that there have been a few changes recently that seem to cause the app to crash after it's been running for a longer period of time, especially when using race markers, which can be a tad distracting in the heat of hte moment to restart the app, but the intuition of the app is amazing!

Thanks for the review. We're waiting on Garmin to release the fix to the firmware that we have tested and which overcomes the crashing. We were hoping to see that by the end of this month (Sept 2017)

We tried to get the Santana 20 national sailors to try the app. Maybe next year in Eugene, or. We did have our hands full with the winds at Dillon Reservoir, Colorado. At the general meeting I did not hear the national officers wanted to come back to dillon. We had over half the 21 boats broached, torn sails, sunk boats. I did have great luck with your app and the garmin vivoactive HR watch in the race. The helmman did have a rude awaking through. He though he did a better job. LOL.

Have used raceqs on my android phone and it is excellent. Have not seen any updates for a long time and think there are still thing that need to be streamlined. Have trialled on my quatix watch but need instructions on how to set up it properly. Am not able to down load may recorded course to my web account. Please continue the development. Would be great if more sailors in my regattas were using.

I love RaceQs! Great to have it on the watch calling layline and recording my sail. I do a lot of small boat sailing too, so the ability to preload marks is fantastic. They are continually improving it.

I have used the Android phone app of RaseQS for a while and now I got my selves a Garmin vivoactive HR to help me live when I'm sailing regattas. At the moment it looks promising even if I only used it in my backyard by walking. There are some features i miss so far but I will come back to this review when I have more knowledge of the app at sea...
