Name: Var8bit: Animated 8-Bit Retro Face

Author: Varsuite

Var8bit is an animated 8-bit watch face from Varsuite. A little pixel robot walks through a scrolling retro world while your time and stats sit in a game style HUD.

What it shows
• A big pixel clock with a drop shadow and a blinking colon. Follows your 12 or 24 hour setting.
• A side scrolling scene: two layers of hills, a brick ground, a sun or moon that crosses the sky with the real time, stars at night and clouds by day.
• A pixel robot that walks and hops.
• Battery as five hearts, and a progress bar like an XP bar.
• Three more data slots and your own text at the bottom.

Make it yours
Change these in the watch face settings on your phone:
• Colour theme: Volt, Mono or Handheld green.
• Five data slots, each showing battery, steps, heart rate, calories, distance today, floors climbed, active minutes this week, notifications, temperature, altitude, or nothing. Battery shows as hearts in the top slots.
• Progress bar: step goal (XP), battery (HP), active minutes goal (AP), floors goal (UP), or off.
• Your text: up to 12 letters, for example your name.
• Robot on or off, and animation on or off.

Animation
The scene animates for a few seconds each time you look at your watch, then rests to save battery. With animation off, the world still moves on a little every minute. On AMOLED watches the always on mode shows only a dim clock and the date.

Requirements and limits
• Temperature needs a paired phone that is syncing weather to the watch. Without it the slot shows "--".
• Heart rate needs the wrist heart rate sensor to be on.
• Floors and altitude need a watch with a barometric altimeter.
• The Handheld green theme has a light background, which uses more battery on AMOLED watches while the screen is on.
