My Bike Radar Traffic

See how many vehicles passed you in a ride. Plus upload your .FIT file after the ride to see exactly where each car passed you. The latest version doesn't require internet access. I am hoping to add an automatic sync feature at some point in the future, but for now you must manually upload your ride to if you want to see the locations and speed data for where cars passed you.

What’s New

1.3 - Expanded support for additional new devices. Also, radar data (count only) should be visible in Garmin connect after uploading to Garmin connect. If you want to see locations of cars, you have to upload your .FIT file manually to

1.2 - Updated counting algorithm to reduce false positives by introducing a threshold distance of 30m that a vehicle must cross before it is counted. The actual count doesn't happen until the vehicle has disappeared off radar (meaning it has passed you or turned behind you after coming within 30m of you). This reduces overcounting if the vehicle appears and disappears multiple times while still a long distance behind you because of turns in the road or obstacles. The website was also updated with a link for you to click to rerun the algorithm on the raw data from rides you have already uploaded. Also, the communications permission was removed from the IQ app. Not sure if it will also automatically be removed from the store listing or not.

Great application, but please leave the measurement in kilometers in the next upgrade. Everything is displayed in miles. Thx

This is a fantastic app if you have both a Garmin device that can use it and a Garmin Varia Radar. This opens up a lot of possibilities as to keeping records of when and if a vehicle approached a cyclist in a dangerous manner. This should be IQ App of the year.

Count can be off due to how the software counts a contact. Contacts fading in an out can push the count up because the count is made on initial detection, so if the target fades and is then re-acquired closer, it is counted again. It would be better if targets were counted only when at a certain range and not initial detection. Otherwise the software does what it promises, it appends radar data to your fit file which can be view in interface (sadly not on the connect interface, so you have to mentally note how many passes you had unless you plan to upload the data).

Excellent points. I am still tweaking the counting algorithm. I like your suggestion of counting it at the very end when a car disappears off the radar (but only if it's within certain distance). Part of the reason for counting at the beginning is so that you'd see the count increase at the time the beep alerts you that a car is approaching. Otherwise, it might look like a car wasn't counted. One option would be to switch to an app display that shows two numbers instead of one number - how many cars approached you (first number) followed by how many cars actually passed you (second number).
