Name: Interstellar Gargantua Black Hole Live Watch Face
Author: mac-technologies

Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here - and your watch was never meant to just tell the time.

Gargantua puts the supermassive black hole from Christopher Nolan's Interstellar on your Garmin watch, seen up close from the edge of its shadow. The glowing accretion disk swirls around it in real motion - faster near the hole, slower further out, just as orbiting gas does - while the far side of the disk is bent up over the shadow by gravity and a thin ring of light hugs its edge. A small dark planet hangs against the disk, like Miller's planet on its orbit.

This is not a painting. The black hole is ray-traced: every pixel follows a ray of light as gravity bends it around the hole, the same general relativity Kip Thorne worked through with the film's visual effects team. Raise your wrist and the disk starts to turn, looping without a visible seam for as long as the watch is awake.

Everything you need at a glance, set like a classic film poster:
• The date and a large digital clock at the top left, following your 12/24-hour setting
• Your battery level right under the clock, turning orange when it runs low
• Today's steps and the calories you have burned at the bottom
• A step goal ring around the edge, filling as you walk through the day

Make it yours: in the watch face's settings in the Garmin Connect app, switch the step goal ring off if you prefer the dial bare.

Made for AMOLED watches - fēnix 8, fēnix 8 Pro, fēnix 9, fēnix E, epix Pro, epix (Gen 2), Forerunner 965, 970, 570 and 70, Venu 2, 3 and 4, vívoactive 5 and 6, MARQ (Gen 2) and Instinct 3 AMOLED. In always-on mode the black hole goes dark and only the clock stays lit, dimmed and gently shifting position to protect your screen.

Made for fans of Interstellar and of hard science fiction. For Cooper and Murph, for Brand, TARS and CASE aboard the Endurance, for the wormhole near Saturn, the Lazarus missions and the tesseract where time became a place. For everyone who heard Hans Zimmer's organ fill the cinema, who still quotes "Do not go gentle into that good night", and who grew up on 2001: A Space Odyssey, the film Nolan has often named as a touchstone. Time is relative - this face keeps yours.
