A witch's shelf on a stone wall, where the time glows in four potion flasks.

Four round-bottomed flasks stand in a row on the shelf, each half full of a dark brew. One glowing digit is lit inside each flask - hours on the left, minutes on the right - with the faint ghost of the unlit segments behind it, the way an old glowing display tube shows its dark cathodes. Two eyeballs float between the pairs as the colon. Time follows the watch's own 12/24-hour setting.

A parchment tag hangs from a nail above the shelf with the weekday, day and month. Below the shelf, three readings sit on the wall - calories, steps and heart rate - each with its own icon. A small bottle hung on the right is the battery: its liquid drains as the charge runs down.

The scene is rendered as a real one would look: cobwebs in the corners of the stone wall, candles at either end of the shelf, glass flasks with rims and corks, and the cauldron simmering on the fire below with its glow rising. While the watch is awake, bubbles rise in every flask and in the cauldron, the candle flames flicker, and the eyeballs follow the minute round and blink now and then.

Always-on goes dark: the outlines of the flasks and the cauldron, with the time and the date dimmed. It is kept well within the display brightness limit, so it stays lit instead of blanking after a few seconds.

SETTINGS

Brew flavour: slime green, pumpkin orange, blood red, frost blue or venom yellow. Colours the brew in the flasks and the cauldron, the glowing digits and the bubbles.

Bubbles and flames: on or off. Off keeps the scene still; the battery bottle still shows the charge.

The date and the time format come from the watch.
