It's barely visible when the back light is on, after that forget trying to read numbers. Neither the white or back version is usable.

Like the black hands on white. More easily readable than the white on black. How about a "second" hand that keeps track of steps, maybe changes color to red to move, and green when the step goal is met?

Why White ? Looking good here but not for real. Black is better but not good.
