Great app, thanks a lot... Can you please add an automatic alarm that would be calculated with current time + 8h (the 8h value would be an adjustable setting)... Also is this open source ? Github ?

Thank you, Intika! We are definitely looking into the option of a sleep goal. Would you rather set it to two hours from the moment you adjust it or from the moment you presumably fell asleep? Feel free to contact us directly.

After last update it drains battery, more than 30, even 40 percent for a night. And it,'s impossible to set UP a snooze. Please do something about it otherwise it will be useless.

Developer Reply
October 17, 2019, BlackTusk

Hi Michal, I am afraid but we could not reproduce this. Battery consumption is 3% on the new Fenix5, 5% on Fenix5 plus, and between 6-8% on Forerunner 645. Please contact us via "contact developer" and tell us more about your device, so we can try to figure it out. Meanwhile, you can have a look at the description of the application. In sections "features" and "whats new", you may find entries that refer to snooze and how to disable and enable it. Just open the app and hit the button where the cogwheel button is located (on vivoactive devices use touch display for more than 2 seconds) and go to menue entry snooze to switch it on or off.

Thank you for a new Vivoactive-friendly UI. Your app is simply the best now!

Thank you Alf for your feedback! And thank you for pointing out the UI issue on vivoacitve in the first place. On the simulator it always worked like it does now, thats why it took us some time to reproduze the bug. but better late than never. We completeley implemeted the pickers from scratch, avoiding any standard controls from vivoactive watches.

I've used on the Fenix 5 and Fenix 6, and love this alarm - use it every night. Quick response and great support from the dev to get this updated when I switched to the Fenix 6.

Hello, thanks for developing a really good app and much needed for Garmin. But I have the same issue as others in that the body battery does not recharge. I am not saving the activity so that doesn’t help. Can you fix this to make it great? I have a 945 by the way. Thank you again though otherwise as i’ll probably still use it!

Hi Stephen! Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, we cannot fix this. But we are positive that Garmin will make the app great again. Hopefully with their next firmware update around october. We cannot promise anything but we adressed this issue and they took it under consideration.

problem is (I have Forerunner 945) It's impossible to set up hours (minutes only), as after one press to set up button (start/stop) setting of hours just skip and come to minutes setting.

The timing of the alarm was very good. The only thing that prevents me from keep using it, is that the sleeping activity was automatically uploaded to Strava ;-)

Hi Pascal! Thanks for your feedback! You can switch "save as activity" on and off within the app. Open SmartWake and hit the cogwheel button and switch it off. We implemented this a while ago, but we just put the information in the release notes and forgot to put it in the description as well. So, thank you for making us aware of it.

Garmin sees this as an activity(sport) and so my body battery won't recharge because it says I do sports the whole night. Possible to fix this? (This issue is not occuring with " sleep like Android")

Developer Reply
July 24, 2019, BlackTusk

Hi Raymond, I am sorry to hear that. Can you please tell us more about the watch you are using? I only saw body battery in vivosmart 4. You can also contact us directly. You can try to switch off "save as activity" after opening SmartWake and hitting the cogwheel icon. This might solve the issue. Since most garmin apps collect sensor data during activity, battery consumption is optimized for that use case only. You might have experienced battery drain of 20-40% when using "sleep with android" although it is just a companion app that does not run independently and does not contain a feature to detect movements. We managed to get battery consumption down to 1-5% with Fenix 5 plus, and 4-10% with forerunner 645 with that workaround.

10% for a night - no thank you. Why not make it widget with alert instead?

Developer Reply
July 15, 2019, BlackTusk

Hi Max! I am sorry to hear that. Sadly, widgets do not support the functionality needed for SmartWake. So building an App was the only way to do it. As mentioned in my answer to the review below, battery usage in connectIQ apps is beyond our control. But I have to agree with you that there is room for improvement. You are more than welcome to contact us directly, so we can discuss these issues in more depth.

Drains battery. 7% during night on 945. Normally 1%. And I do not know how to disable sound (wish to have vibration only)

Developer Reply
July 15, 2019, BlackTusk

Hi Bartek! Battery drain during "Activity" or when an running an app is indeed an issue of Garmin watches. We adressed it already and we hope what it will be solved in the future, but this is not up to us. Alarm tone and vibration settings for SmartWake derive from general settings of your Garmin device. So if you disable tonal alarm during activity in your device settings SmartWake will wake you up with a gentle vibration alarm.

Dear friend, thanks for the app! Could you please add one option to it: enable/disable sound on the alarm? So it will be great if user will be able to configure the alarm: buzz only/buzz+sound/sound

Developer Reply
July 15, 2019, BlackTusk

Hi Dimitry! Thank you for your feedback and the review! In general Alarm tone and vibration settings for SmartWake derive from general settings of your Garmin device, as mentioned under App Info. If we would implement an additional alarm tone and vibration settings layer within the app it could collide with the general settings (eg. alarm is swiched on in SmartWake but swiched off under general settings). Hope this info helps. You can always contact us via "Contact Developer"

How can you set the timeframe, my vivioactive 3 music doesn’t give this option?

Developer Reply
July 10, 2019, BlackTusk

Hi Vinod, thanks for reaching out to us. Please contact us via the button "Contact Developer" so we can solve that issue. Just to clarify, are you unable to see and set a timeframe when you set the alarm or do you want to set it elsewhere? Is this step (of setting the timeframe) being bypassed in the process of setting the alarm? Do you use CIQ3.1 beta on your device? We experienced that screens are not updated properly with CIQ3.1 beta, so if you go to the next step in the process and you do not actively change any values, the screen is not being updated. Sadly this is not up to us.It is a bug of garmins beat version.

Kikepeli
July 4, 2019 | Version 1.1.4

Just tried last night in a Fenix 5, but I got weird screen displays while configuring the app which forced me to start all over. Additionally the screen light turns on with every wrist movement while sleeping, thus waking me -and my wife- up (I'm going to try it with activity switched off to prevent the light from turning on). Finally, a lesser issue, Strava registered the activity as a “Night Ride” with average and max cadence

Developer Reply
July 5, 2019, BlackTusk

Hello Kikelepi, the screen light setting derives from Garmins general light settings by design. This can not be set up inside the app. You should set the light setting in your Watch Menu - Settings - System - Backlight - During Activity - Gesture - and switch it OFF. This will prevent your watch from lightening up during sleep. For best performance you should also switch the DND (Do-Not-Disturb) mode ON and set your personal intern sleep and wake time according to your sleep target you usually use to sleep. Then no notifications will pop up on your screen at night. In the Apps Menu you can switch of FIT file writing what will stop Strava from monitoring this. Could you tell us what exactly what does look weird on the screen and what firmware version you use so we could fix this a.s.a.p? You can also write us using the "Contact Developer" link. Thank you for your support!

Tried again with the new version and sleep data was collected correctly. One issue is that hr stress data does not show up correctly in Garmin Connect, because the time while SmartWake is running is marked as "active". I am using a Fenix 5 plus.

Thank you so much for this app - I really started to wake up fresh and well slept thanks to your application. Some suggestions regarding touch screen devices (I have VA3): can you please increase "+/-" buttons size and eliminate the need to swipe left to right to be able to touch confirmation "V" button? I have difficulties trying to quickly adjust time values with precise touch of these tiny buttons - half of my touches simply does not touch :)

The app works OK and the updated UI Is nicer. However, using the app prevents sleep data to be shown in Garmin Connect for me. I did not record sleep as an activity, do I need to do that in order to preserve sleep data? Is it possible to not have to record an activity but still get sleep data as usual?

Developer Reply
June 7, 2019, BlackTusk

Hi dbb! Thanks for your feedback. We tested SmartWake with Forerunner 645, Fenix 5 plus and Vivoactive 3 with activity switched on and off and it successfully collected sleeping data. Yet it seems that it can take some time to provide it in garminconnect. But we have indeed anecdotal reports of sleep data not getting covered when using SmartWake but we were unable to reproduce it. In General, garmin advised users to wear them two hour before you got to bed in order to get full coverage of sleeping data. Can you tell us more about the device you are using and your sleep settings (get up and sleep events)?

Doesn't display correctly on the vivoactive 3 Music. It seems to think I have a button in the upper right and left side of the watch (which I don't). The button on the right causes the app to exit. Does the app have to stay open for the alarm to work? If so, it would be dangerous to accidentally hit that button in your sleep. I can set the alarm, but I haven't actually checked to see if it works yet since there are other aspects of this app that need work. Hope you can get it fixed. I like the idea. (I use Sleep as Android on my phone.)

Hello Chris, thanks for reporting this issue, we just fixed the displaying bug and also hitting enter button switches on the light instead of quitting the app. Yes, the app should be on over night. Now you cannot exit the app without answering a prompt so you should unlikely exit the app by accident. If you want to go for sure, lock your screen during your sleep.

Thank you very much for this useful app. Right now it logs elevation and temperature on Fenix 5. It would be great to disable logging of them. A killer feature would be to convert the activity into sleep, so that a nap can be logged. Or at least to log movement data.

Richtig gute App!
