SmartLink Watch App

The SmartLink custom app for select Garmin watches enables runners to track outside runs as well as indoor sessions on the Zero Runner. Runners can get all of their running data from their indoor runs on the Zero Runner. Runners can also bridge the gap between outside and indoor workouts without losing useful data – thereby enabling them to log miles outside and then on the Zero Runner to minimize excessive repetitive impact. With this technology, runners benefit from specificity of cardiovascular endurance and muscular training while protecting the joints and the body from potential overuse and injuries. Zero-impact miles serve as a 401K account for your body -- where you log more miles now with zero impact so that you can benefit in the future with a longer running career. </p>

What’s New

Supports all watches as of March 2018 (except Epix).

Does not work with Zero Runner ZR8000. Developer indicated that support would be provided last fall but has been unresponsive as to providing status updates since then.

Hi, I do not understand some of the negative reviews. I have a ZR7, the ZR once paired to Fenix 5x plus (simple process - search sensors - turn on ZR - hold close to ZR console 30 sec or less - finished) each session will pair to ZR normally within 15 seconds of starting running after turning no ZR and selecting option 2 'run on zero' on the app. All data appears accurate and simple to review, love it. Can even get VO2 max

Please hire a good engineer to fix this app. It's clunky to use (almost like it was developed for a different platform and then ported to Garmin). Even worse, the data is not close to accurate. You need to re-write it from scratch. Repeatedly I've run 3 miles on the Zero Runner and the app has me around 0.4 miles. There also doesn't appear to be a step count, or if so, it's wildly off. Clearly the Zero knows exactly how many steps I've taken as it will draw each one in near real time. Surely you can use this data to get an accurate step count onto the Garmin. I have a Fenix 5S

With my ZR7 and the current Forerunner 935 it works reasonably well. Unfortunately, my Forerunner created an incorrect FIT file (R-R data) from the data transmitted by the ZR7, so that the evaluation with the program Firstbeat Individual Sports could not analyze the FIT file.

I am happy to have something more accurate that works with my Zero Runner. It's still a bit off though. I did 16 miles on the Zero Runner this past weekend and the watch says I did 16.29 while the Zero Runner says 16. If you can do something to fix that so it's right on, I'll give it 5 starts. This is however way more accurate then marking it as a treadmill run and letting it count your steps.

Enttäuschend, dass Garmin Forerunner 935 nicht kompatibel ist. Somit fehlen mir alle wesentlichen Daten in Garmin Connect.

Waited a long time for an app to use on my Zero Runner. Waiting for Octane to produce an Android tablet App is hopeless as they have been promising it for a couple years now. This app is as good as it gets for now. The distance is off by a factor of half for some reason. If they can fix this, I'd rate it higher and be satisfied with the app. As it is, I need to edit my Garmin Connect data to correct distance accordingly.

So glad when I seen this but when downloaded does not work with my octane fitness runner bummer

My vivoactive hung on Power on Zero Runner first time I tried using it too. Read the instructions on the iPAD Zero Runner app where you first go into Settings/Sensors and select add a new device. Get on the Zero Runner and start running...It then scans and finds an ANT+ "FP-16" footpod. After that it did communicate with the Zero runner correctly. However the pace seems slower on this app then the actual Zero Runner. The App could use some updates.

February 13, 2016 | Version Version 1.0.7-upd

My Vivoactive connects to the Zero Runner but the accuracy is terrible. The watch app suggests that I am completing a much further run, much faster than I am actually completing the run. Also, the calorie counter, even combined with a heart rate monitor is drastically different. Please address these discrepancies and this will be a great app!

I soooooo wanted this to work, I have the ZR7. But it never talked to the ZR7 when I was using it with the vivoactive. I just barely got the FR235 and this app is apparently not even compatible with that watch. Huge disappointment from Octane on this one.

I am also experiencing the same data discrepancy. My vivoactive data and the data the zero runner shows are completely different. It appears to be communicating with my zero runner, but shows an average pace of half of what the zero runner shows. I'll keep the app with the hope it gets corrected, but at this juncture, very disappointing.

January 2, 2016 | Version Version 1.0.7-upd

Is not communicating at all with the ZR7 I own, nor the ZR8 I demo'd last week. Pretty much not usable.

October 26, 2015 | Version Version 1.0.7-upd

this is a dream come true, BUT too bad it doesnt change to zero inside. pls fix very interesting indeed

October 12, 2015 | Version Version 1.0.7-upd

Pace and distance less than half of actual shown on Zero Runner. Obviously not communicating right. Worthless. Using on Vivoactive.

Mine also hangs on Power to Zero Runner. Am I doing something wrong?

July 23, 2015 | Version Version 1.0.7-upd

App hangs on 'power on zero runner' screen. Never finds the zero runner. Brand new VA with latest firmware.

June 25, 2015 | Version Version 1.0.7

Quite happy with the layout of display on the NEW VA only used it on outside runs as yet Great visibility at night with the back light. My only bug is with the use of pace rather than average pace As a gauge to performance this is useless on outside runs as it varies moment by moment can this be changed in next update average pace what you need over a longer distance to monitor your race or training goal.

June 21, 2015 | Version Version 1.0.7

At the moment my 920XT not receiving the distance of ZR7. And it takes a long time until the 920XT is connected to the ZR7 and all data fields in the 920XT are visible. If it then but right now works properly, it should be a very good supplement for the 920XT and ZR7. It would be helpful also a step by step guide for the complete implementation of this program, because of wrong operation can not be ruled by me.
