Garmin told me VO2max at 50 and this app at 46,5
I've done a interval training to go at the max to obtain this result.
What is the difference in term of computation algorithm ? Which one is the "good one" ?
Many thanks for your answer.
PS : suggestion : instead of 1 data field written in small on my VivoActive3, why not 2 data field, to allow bigger figures (easier to read ... :-)) thanks !

Great data field! It is pretty much what I was looking for to have on my vivoactive 3. Just a minor point: Could you maybe also add the export of the calculated training effect, so that it can be checked as well in the saved activity in the app. Right now it can only be read during the activity on the watch. That would be great! Thank you in advance.

Hello Flo and thanks for your comment. Actually, the Training Effect value is already saved by default by Garmin, you can find it in the summary of the activity.

I download the app for Vivoactive HR but can't find it in my watch and in Garmin connect.
VO2 max app showing compatibility in app for Vivoactive HR, then why it is not visible anywhere???

This kind of issue is not related to the app itself, but to your system configuration or its behavior. Please stop comment with poor rating for something that is not related to the app, it deserves the work behind, why not sending an email to the developer instead ? I will not answer anymore to this kind of comment in the future...

This feature is great, thank you! Using it from treadmill running. It would be great if it could integrate with Garmin Graphs for historic. Is there a way at least to extract data build a graph on the computer?
May 27, 2019, Surfy66
Hello Marco and thanks for your comment. In fact, when you synchronize your device with Garmin Connect, the activity is transferred to your Garmin profile then, you can see it in the list of all your activities, with all the data and graphs displayed.

I'm using your VO2 apps for both running and cycling; Garmin missed the boat on this feature on my fenix watch and I'm really happy you're filling the gap. Thanks!

I worked on a running simulator and in the report, the Vi2max classes is 41, and in the Garmin Conect program, the VO2max indicator did not change the indicator and remained equal to 39, why?
February 26, 2019, Surfy66
Hello and thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, it's not possible to modify the VO2 calculated by Garmin with third party calculated data. That's the reason the Garmin VO2 did not changed by this datafield.

Question regarding Elliptical
I trained for 50 min with peak of 169 (max is 175) bpm
Sustained 20 min above 158 bpm and VO2 shows no record at all...

Hello and thanks for your comment. This datafield was originally developed for use in dynamic running, so it means that it requires a non-zero speed to operate and calculate the value of VO2 max, something impossible on an elliptical trainer with a zero-speed value. So, this will unfortunately not be possible to adapt this datafield for this activity

Congrats on being the only third party app to do this (at least that I can find). Amazing data field with VO2 dynamically updated during a run/cycle. The standard Garmin VO2 reports (which are static not dynamic) do not take elevation into account as I understand it. So if you run up a big hill VO2 will be worse than running on the flat. I wondered if this app does or could integrate elevation, which would be very neat (perhaps the maths is too hard). I know it can only ever be an estimate outside the physiology lab, but lets face it we are all obsessed by VO2 and the more accurate you can make the estimate the better. Keep up the good work.

Is OK. But, it's not clear what the parameters mean. The parameters differ from the pics here....Would be nice to change them to that what I need. Interesting is, that the calculation of the VO2 max differs significantly from the calculation by Garmin. With Garmin I have 43, with this app I have more than 50....!!! I need reliable information...

Very good app for Garmin 5x. It works very well and I am able to check my v02 max improvement using a treadmill during indoor training session. Great work! Keep going on! Why it is not possible to overwrite the garmin v02max value with your value? Or better, how about to let the user know the new value after each training session asking if he/she wants to overwrite the new value into the garmin vo2 max field?

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, the overwriting of the VO2 data is not allowed by Garmin, although it could be great ! Maybe in the future...

Hi, I'm using Forerunner 935 & sync it with an Android phone. How do i set to display this datafield once I've downloaded the Apps? The steps givens below seems not applicable for my devices.
*This is a data field not an application and needs to be added to a single data screen within a sport activity.
1- go to settings, apps, sport activity, data screen, screen 1
2- set layout to 1 field
3- set field 1 to ConnectIQ Fields, JMGDTFRunningVO2

Hello and thanks for your comment. The procedure is absolutely applicable for your device (like many others). Just open a sport activity, normally the running app (or create a new one), select a screen and configure it by selecting the one field layout then, select the IQ app choice and select this DF, save changes, you should have the DF displayed within this activity. Note that this procedure should be mentioned in your device manual.

Love this data field, great app to give me a good VO2max read out.
Minor gripe....the data field is not showing in Garmin Connect after syncing the Fenix3HR to my iPhone

Really fantastic data field for running!!! Big thanks!!! But Is it possible to make something like this for getting VO2 datas from indoors strength activities or indoors mountain climbing? And would be good also to put there the count of activity steps with saving them in fit-file, because Garmin removed it from GC at all:-(
November 29, 2017 | Version 1.40
This doesn't seem to work: the VO2 curve is just a scaled version of my pace. I get maximum VO2 when running downhill and not working hard at all, while VO2 drops a lot when I run uphill and my heart rate is way up.

Awesome data field!!! I don't normally do reviews, but I'm making an exception for this. I'm an older guy trying to stay in shape, and keep the weight I lost (125 pounds) off. I love to run, but have to do all my running on a treadmill with a cushioned deck to save my knees and hips. This data field gives me what Garmin won't, a good estimate of my VO2 Max while treadmill running. I like knowing what my VO2 Max is, and have watching it improve. Thanks for the awesome Data Field!!!

I have a Garmin 235 and haven't gotten a VO2 max reading from it after having it for almost a couple months.
So thanks for making an app where I can finally see some of that data.
I have injuries so I do most of my workouts on the elliptical. Does this app use a formula for deriving the VO2 max that is compatible with elliptical workouts?
Also, is this the type of app that will learn over time, increasing in accuracy as it goes?
I got a mean VO2 of 16 something and a max of 61..which I'm not thinking is very accurate. That was just from a 10 minutes walk/run.

Works good on Garmin 735XT.

Les données ne s'affichent plus dans Garmin Connect depuis la dernière mise à jour de Garmin Connect. Pouvez-vous y remédier ?

The best VO2 Max data field ever, with detail information about our running condition.

Hi I like / love your data field! Its show realistic VO2 value. Its a must! E.g. for treadmill. But I don't understand how I can use the saved fit file. Its marked to save into fit, of course. But I see no diagram or value under the run event? I had try to synchronized over the mobile app (ios), wifi and Garmin Express my Fenix 5. What can do with the fit file and where is it, in a folder?

I really like this app. However, it crashes after about 23 minutes of exercise. Can this be fixed? I will gladly give a 5-star if this issue is fixed.

Thanks for your comment and sorry for this issue. Can you contact me by email in order to know your device and settings used by the app, thanks in advance.

Hello GJFN and thanks for your comment. There is no report of trouble at all with this DF so, if you experience difficulties with it, I invite you to send me an email with a detailed description of your problem (eventually with screen captures) so, I will be able able to help you to find a solution.

works fine in garmin 735xt...it gives me a better result than vO2max calculated by garmin but it's ok because this value of this app is the same with the one measured in ergometric test i have done!
August 14, 2017 | Version 1.24
Unfortunately the app doesn't show VO2 in real time, it has shown constant 0,12 yesterday. Am I misunderstood anything related the using of the app?
