Wonderful application ever! Small but Powerful. I am a beginner in terms of IoT things, but with the generous and devotional help from tje developer, I came to know how to use this app. Thank you so very much for his sacrifice and the Masterpiece. Praise the Lord!

Takes a bit to set up but actually works well with no need for a companion app. Follow the directions or look up how to add web hooks on IFTTT and it's pretty easy to set up, just takes a bit.

Seems like it would work well but I still don’t get where you get the Webhook key. Is it the end of the link? The whole thing?? The weird code for the Webhook service in the settings??

At one point I thought it won't work, but in the end I figured it out! Personally, I would have preferred this widget to be an app, and to be able te send default responses with fewer taps. All in all, I'm excited it's working and that I can use it as a virtual button to trigger certain events and automations

Works for me, thank you for the free app, just 4 stars for now for lack of final status confirmation. Please update the instructions that the length of event_name needs to be at least 6 characters, I was pretty confused and wasted quite a bit of time when I initially used event name shorter than 6 characters.

The Widget itself functions as described. Set up a bunch of pre-fab messages to tell your ride partners you are going to Destination X or Y, running late, on the way home, "be there in 10," etc. etc. To use a Garmin device to send specific messages is painful beyond belief ... just pull out your phone if that's what you need to do. Any limitation or frustration with this Widget is an OS or Device limitation, and therefore the 5th star. This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Solution to the @Bob190 IOS limitation ... it's long and convoluted: Step 1: Set up the IFTTT Recipe to use email instead of SMS. Step 2: set up your contacts as emails, not text. (E.g., [email protected] See here for most carriers: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-send-a-text-from-your-email-account/); Any reply to your text will come back you your email, so Step 3: create a forwarder in your email provider of all replies from your contacts to your own number [email protected] so you'll see their replies.

As an iPhone user, I have been looking for a solution that would allow me to send a quick test from my Fenix 6s .. this works, but there are some caveats. 1. It isn't free .. the only IFTTT service I could find that would send an SMS test was ClickSend. There is a small charge per text .. but it is minimal. 2. With ClickSend .. the text won't come from your phone number, but will come from a fixed number provided by the service. I got around this by changing the beginning of all the Quick responses to my Name: 3. You have to setup a rule in QuickSend to receive a reply. The reply gets forwarded to your phone number. You get charged for the reply. I am OK with the above, since I can now send a quick text from my watch without pulling out my iPhone. Appreciate the work the developer put into this.

Doesn’t work at all: - After message is supposedly sent, IFTTT cannot see it at all, in the meanwhile the same web hook works well from other programs. - The widget won’t accept a valid & short event name (4 chars), the widget says the event name is too short.

I’m not sure why, but I am using the email feature, and I get a notification that the event occurred to the connected email address, but the recipients don’t actually get the email. Also, what are the possibly SMS service? I don’t see any. Thanks!

I was trying to set up IFTTT, but there was no "iMessage" or "Gmail" in the "then" menu. Using "EMail," I can only let myself receive a message, not send one. Also, this widget, froze my device.

Thanks for your review. Indeed Google removed the support of GMail from IFTTT in 2019 (read https://help.ifttt.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020249393-Important-update-about-the-Gmail-service). So the strategy demonstrated on the video isn't available. But you can still create an IFTTT applet like "if WEBHOOK then EMAIL" (*EMAIL is a service provided by IFTTT themselves). I'll adapt the description to explain more or less how to do it. About freezing you device: this isn't something that can be "programmed" on Connect IQ. It may be a firmware bug (read the section "device crashes" on https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/programmers-guide/how-to-test/) . I suggest you send a report to Garmin about it. Cheers!

Thanks for your review! Phone connection is necessary to send the request to the Webhook. We included the possibility to add your GPS location in the message. It could be interesting to notify someone about your location (it's even possible to send a link for Google Maps;-)). You can quickly add it using the menu. Cheers!

I got it all set up in ~15 minutes with zero prior knowledge of IFTTT. Works well, nice to be able to send custom text responses from watch now.

Worked for me with 2 caveats: First, it wouldn't work until I named the event something with an underscore. In my case it was "vivo_p" (without quotes.) Second, IFTTT on Android wouldn't allow me to add {{Value1}} for phone number. So I did it on their website interface instead. All works now. Hope this helps others.

This is ace. Really nice interface. Thank you. I'm using it for sms rather than email, so the subject is irrelevant - it'd be nice to have the option to hide that. It'd also be nice to be able to associate a name with each mobile number, to help identify the recipient when selecting from the list. I think with these two improvements it'd be perfect.
