Name: Project Hail Mary Tethered Astrophage Space Watch
Author: mac-technologies

Light-years from home, a lone astronaut in a red suit drifts above the hull of his ship, held by a single tether, while the light of an alien star breaks into every colour behind him.

Tethered is an animated digital watch face for anyone who has ever looked up and wondered how far a person could go to save the world.

• It's alive. He floats slowly over the hull, bobbing, swaying and turning, his arms and legs moving as he hangs in space, while a wave runs down his tether to its clip.
• The ship turns. The great drum of the hull rolls slowly beneath him, its panels, conduits and gold foil riding up and over its edge, between a pale module at one end and a tangle of copper pipework at the other.
• Rays of starlight slide past behind him, and the glow runs from white-hot through gold, red and violet into deep space, where the stars show - a 12-second loop with no seam.
• A large clock in instrument-panel lettering over him, in 12 or 24 hours as your watch is set, under the date.

Everything you need at a glance:
• The day and date over the time
• Today's steps, your battery level and the calories you have burned - the battery turns red when it runs low
• A step goal ring around the edge, filling up as you walk

Make it yours: in the watch face's settings in the Garmin Connect app, switch the step goal ring off - or back on.

Made for fans of Project Hail Mary: of Andy Weir's novel and the film by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, written by Drew Goddard, with Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace and Sandra Hüller as Eva Stratt. For everyone who followed a schoolteacher who woke up alone on the Hail Mary, light-years from Earth, with no memory of how he got there; who watched Astrophage dim the Sun along the Petrova line; who travelled to Tau Ceti and met Rocky, the Eridian engineer from Erid, in his tunnel of Xenonite; and who cheered for the Taumoeba, the Beetles and a friendship across the stars. Fist my bump. Amaze, amaze, amaze!
