Swim Coach uses your watch's accelerometer and gyroscope to break each freestyle stroke into glide, catch, pull, push and recovery. It shows three live numbers for the arm wearing the watch:

Glide: how long your hand stays out front before the catch.
Catch depth: how vertical your forearm gets in the pull.
Exit angle: how fully you finish the push.

It counts lengths from your push-offs and gives two haptic cues: one long buzz when you're overgliding, and two short buzzes when you're cutting the push short. The metrics are saved to your activity as charts in Garmin Connect, and the raw motion data can be exported for a detailed stroke report.

Freestyle, pool swimming. Metrics measure the arm wearing the watch.
