Name: Mattr: Running Coach
Author: Mattr

A running coach that adapts to you. Mattr builds your plan, changes it whenever life does, and now coaches every run from your wrist.

Text Mattr anytime: "my calf is tight", "can we move Saturday's long run", "I only have 30 minutes today". Your coach answers and changes the plan. This app puts that plan on your watch.

Open Mattr before a run and today's workout is there: warm-up, reps, recoveries and cool-down, with your pace targets. The watch guides each step with a buzz and a beep, counts you into every rep, and shows mile splits like an auto-lap alert. On easy days your heart rate is the big number, with a gentle buzz if you drift over your easy cap. Running a rep too fast counts as off target, just like too slow, and if the day isn't there, Switch to effort in the pause menu keeps the workout without the pace targets.

Save the run and shortly after, your coach texts you about it, and what you ran shapes what comes next.

Race day: your race plan comes with you. The watch names each section of the course and its target pace, reminds you of every gel, shows the plan's time at 5K, 10K, halfway and 20 miles, and holds you to your own heart-rate limits, with what easing off would cost at the finish. Hold UP any time to switch to your Plan B.

Every run saves as a normal Garmin run, so it shows up in Garmin Connect and anywhere you share from there.

You need a Mattr account to use it, and Mattr currently works with US phone numbers. Open the app, text the code it shows to Mattr, and your watch is linked. Your heart rate is only used for coaching if you say yes by text.

Texting the code to Mattr signs you up for coaching texts from (917) 994-9725. Msg frequency varies, usually a text or two on training days. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Terms: mattr.coach/terms. Privacy: mattr.coach/privacy
