A phosphor terminal on your wrist, with a little courier in the corner who reacts to your day.
No trial banner, six phosphor colours: Cathode Elite https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/6522f6b4-fc3f-4725-9c46-1fcd0c555d66

He is not decoration. He stands with one arm up when the day is ordinary,
strides once you have moved, hunches over when your body battery drops under a
quarter, and throws both arms in the air the moment your step goal falls. Four
states you read from a shape, which is faster than reading a number.

Behind him the whole dial is a cathode ray tube: one phosphor colour, three
shades of it, scanlines across the glass and a block cursor parked after the
minutes. The time and the readouts are set in a real pixel typeface with
anti-aliasing switched off, so the pixels are pixels rather than a font
pretending.

ON THE FACE
• Pixel seven segment time with a terminal cursor
• A figure that changes with body battery, movement and your step goal
• Heart rate, steps, calories and battery down the left
• Weekday, date and outside temperature across the top
• Step goal as a fourteen segment level meter
• CRT scanlines, switchable

SETTINGS
Open Cathode in the Connect IQ app, Garmin Connect or Garmin Express:
• Scanlines on or off

ALWAYS ON
The always on display is designed separately rather than dimmed. The time keeps
the same size and the same place, the figure stays as his own outline, the
scanlines switch off, and on AMOLED the whole block shifts a pixel every minute
to look after the screen.

DEVICES
Supported on 115 devices, including fenix, Forerunner, Venu, Instinct, epix,
vivoactive, Descent, MARQ, tactix, quatix, Enduro and Approach. Every shade is
picked from Garmin's 64 colour palette so nothing dithers on memory in pixel
screens, and on the one bit screens of the Instinct family the face repaints
itself in white, where the hierarchy comes from size instead of colour.

HOW THE FREE VERSION WORKS
This is the VX version: the complete watch face in cyan, free to use for 5
days. After 5 days the tube goes monochrome and a red TRIAL ENDED banner
appears across the face. The watch keeps telling the time, and the banner
stays until you move to Cathode Elite, which is the same face with six
phosphor colours.

REVIEWS
On this store a rating is the main thing that decides whether anyone else finds
a watch face. If you like this one, leaving one takes a minute.
