Name: Estimated Calories
Author: ReqDC

Estimated Calories displays a projection of the calories you will have burned by the end of the current day. It combines calories recorded by your watch so far with an estimate of the resting calories you will burn during the rest of the day. The estimate can also be shown in a compatible watch complication, for example in watch faces that support complications.

Using the app
Open the app to view today's projected calorie total. Tap the screen to refresh the value. The complication is refreshed in the background about every five minutes, as well as when the app is opened or refreshed.

Settings
Open the app's menu and select Settings to change either option:

- Body Fat %: Optionally select a body-fat percentage from 1% to 50%. When set,
the app uses it to estimate resting calories from lean body mass. Choose Remove info to clear it and return to the standard profile-based estimate.
- BMR multiplier: Adjust the resting-calorie estimate from 70% to 130%. The default is 100%. Choose Remove selection to clear the adjustment and restore the default.

Settings are saved on the watch and remain in effect until changed or removed.

About the estimate
For a personalized estimate, make sure your Garmin user profile includes your weight and height. The standard estimate also uses your gender and birth year to estimate age. If those profile details are missing, the app uses these fallbacks: 75 kg for weight, 175 cm for height, male for gender, and age 30.

If you set Body Fat %, the resting-calorie calculation instead uses your weight and that percentage to estimate lean body mass; height, gender, and age are not used in that calculation. The BMR multiplier is then applied to either calculation.

Results are estimates, not measurements or medical advice, and may differ from actual energy expenditure. This is calories burned, not food calories consumed.
