Excellent!! Working with what our watches can actually do and putting together such detailed analytics is so exciting. Constantly improving the app is great! Adding the local weather is so simple but a genius addition!
Would you be able to recommend which algorithms we should use for height for which watch? I'm using Garmin Fenix5plus.

Hello David and thanks for your nice comment. About your question, you can see these suggestions in the descriptive text of the app (or in the user manual) at the "Note about jump calculation algorithms" section, here: https://www.jeanmichelgruber.com/applications-garmin-garmin-apps/jmg-app-wind-kite-surfing/english/

Great app everything is ok.
May 6, 2020 | Version 2.60
Thanks to the developer for the hard work, the app is quite nice but ill like to explain my experience. The height its not real, the other day i was jumping 20 meters, and thats impossible because i cant jump even 10. Sorry about that. Also i would like to set the screens differently, there are many numbers in the screen and to little so you can not see clearly in a quick look. I recomend to the developer make it more configurable. Anyway thanks, this revew its just for improving the app if is possible. Kint regards

Hello Ramon and thanks for your comment.
First, the app offers 3 different algorithms to calculate jumps, one of them should be accurate depending the watch model used.
Secondly, all the screens (except the main and stats screens) can be displayed or not, depending your needs (options to check / uncheck in the options menu).
Finally, there is another screen called "Wide Screen" and displayed only during navigation, where data are displayed in a bigger font, and is fully customizable with data you can freely choose (speed, time, chrono, avg speed, last jump, etc) in the "Wide Screen" menu.
So, I do not see what I could do to be more flexible and configurable. But, if you have any suggestions, you can send them to me by email.

Awesome app and very active developer !!
January 13, 2020 | Version 2.45
App is quite nice. I like it. At the moment 3 out of 5 stars because the jumping height and hangtime for kiting is not correct on Fenix 5S. Waiting for an update. When this is correct 5 out of 5.
March 6, 2020, Surfy66
Hello Christoph, and thanks for your comment. Since the version 2.47 on this model, I've introduced a new algorithm for jump calculation (always by selecting the accelerometer method), and the results should be now far more accurate than the previous calculation method
December 26, 2019 | Version 2.45
Misleading. This is a fully paid app and NOT pro version configurable requiring a purchase.
Strongly recommending to read the website for an app... that's so 1990.
First time using it, had to go and purchase it.
Screen to busy as well.
Not worth it, many other apps or date fields available.
Sorry, doesn't work for me.
December 27, 2019, Surfy66
Misleading ? Everything is explained here and on the website, just need to take the time to read the explanations and, finally, it's up to you to purchase the app, or not. If you can find such pro app on the store for this kind of sports, well that's great, it's perfect.
December 12, 2019 | Version 2.43
Incompatible with all fenix 6 models!
- in map mode the fenix is crashing
- temperature bug (only in Fahrenheit)
- manual is outdated and wrong
- wind Efficiency angles & its red/orange/green light system (good idea in theory) are wrong indicated, bad explained & not useable like this
- faulty statistical screen (right after session) for the summary of wind efficiency angles
- totally wrong values for jump hight (acceleration sensor I used for sure)
- faulty after ride analysis integration into garmin connect (most of the values you will never see again after you have started a new session on the watch) - who the fu*k exports manually this data
- previous sessions are not visible anymore
Be careful - the developer is annoyed by his own buggy software & there is zero support.
15€ basically for nothing :(
December 13, 2019, Surfy66
Well. No support? I counted dozen of emails from you since months and, as always, I replied to all of them, except your last one because I thought I’ve had already answered to your question. Maybe you didn’t accept my answer ...? I don't want to argue (no time for that) but, for example, you write "Incompatible with all fenix 6 models! "- where did you see that? or, "in map mode the fenix is crashing" - as explained to you many times before, this is a Garmin issue since months and difficult to turn around (different behavior between the simulator and the watch) but, I have probably found a solution that I will add to the next update or, "temperature bug (only in Fahrenheit)" - this bug (only appeared for a while on F6X) has been fixed for a long time now so, why write this here now? You are supposed to update the app, are you doing it? Better than that, I even sent you an email to inform you of this update, was I obliged to do so? Last thing, which borders on fake news here, as I already explained to you by email, it is not possible to load in an application the data from the previous sessions saved into a FIT file, this is just not possible at all because Garmin does not authorize it (one direction possible, application to FIT file only) then yes, sorry for not being able to achieve the impossible. In summary, a rating of 4.5 and lots of good reviews for a buggy and faulty software even used by several users in race and competition, wow, what a great performance! How can this be possible ...? Ah, I know, probably a bugged and faulty Garmin rating system… Oh, and the price of the app is not 15 but 13 euros (or 16 USD), probably an oversight on your part.

awesome app! full support! deserves the 5 stars! Congratulations on the development!
October 5, 2019 | Version 2.35
I have been using this great app for windsurfing since August 2018 (I started windsurfing in 1977). I reviewed it in October 2018 and gave it 5*. Since a year has now passed, I thought I would give an update. I still give it 5* because it has functioned so well. I would give it 6* if I could. I would also like to comment on developer support. I have contacted the developer three times and each time received a prompt helpful reply. The first time was before I bought the app and was a question about how the app functioned. The next two times were after I had been using the app for some time and concerned minor suggestions that might improve the usability. I was amazed when the developer not only found solutions to these suggestions but had them released in an update, within one week each time! If anyone is wondering which wind/kite surfing app to buy, I definitely recommend this one!

Hello Douglas and thanks for your nice comment, I really appreciate it. In fact, yes, I put all my know-how and skills in this application so that it is the easiest, reliable and pleasant to use for everyone
September 29, 2019 | Version 2.34
Need to be able to see the current time while using the app. Otherwise excellent
September 30, 2019, Surfy66
Hello Hugh and thanks for your comment. You can already see the time while riding: just set the minimalist screen (Options Menu - Display Screens - Wide Screen) and choose time data for one of the 3 configurable fields. When riding, the minimalist screen will be displayed, and you will have the time displayed too, with a large font.
August 18, 2019 | Version 2.27
sympa pour se donner une idée des sauts mais j'ai comparé avec un piq il y a pas photos. trop de faux sauts, pas top precis, et temps faux aussi bref je l'utilise plus
August 17, 2019 | Version 2.27
Very good appli easy to use. I have been using it now for a week and very happy with it. Last not least, the developper is very reactive answering questions.
August 11, 2019 | Version 2.25
Excellente application, fiable, pro, must have pour le Kite.
July 21, 2019 | Version 2.21
Nice app. Since ver. 2.20 it is now possible to view the height of the last jump right after landing. I recommend all kitesurfers to test it! I do not have a woo to compare, but the values seem ok.
July 21, 2019 | Version 2.21
Amazing app! Work perfetto!!! Super!
July 20, 2019 | Version 2.21
The owner îs very nice guy . He solve my problem with instaling the app with very much patience .
July 18, 2019 | Version 2.20

Great app, great feedback, great development - the best in class at the moment
I have a question though - on the app description pictures, where it talks about " Heading " should that say Track or Course instead? Heading is usually the direction the top of the watch is facing, where as normally people checking their watch want to know their course or track instead ?
Keep up the good work.
June 22, 2019, Surfy66
Hello Nicholas and tanks for your comment. In fact, the heading is actually the heading of your current course / track, and not the heading pointed by your watch, obviously.
January 18, 2019 | Version 1.75
Great app. Shows all the data I need and even a lot more. Although it`s a lot of data, these are presented clearly and easy to read. Developer reacts quickly to suggestoins and questions.
Best windsurf-app I ever tried (checked two others and used cycling-app for windsurfing before). I will definitly stay this one. Worth any pence.
Only problem is that the large amount of data is not shown in garmin connect. So you have to check directly after session, before closing and saving. In garmin connect the usual data (speed, distance, heartbeat, temperature, ...) are shown but not the special windsurfing-information of the app (best 10sec, best 250m, best 500m, number of jibes, sail used, wind axis ...). According to developer this is a garmin problem, affecting other apps, too.
Last weak I cul at least see some additional data (best 10sec, best 250m, best 500m), but after an update these data are not shown anymore.
January 22, 2019, Surfy66
Hello Thomas and thanks for your comment. The problem of data not displayed in Garmin Connect is not related to the application but to a current problem with Garmin. A ticket concerning this issue has been opened on the forum and it concerns in fact a whole majority of applications, data fields, etc. We are all waiting for a general fix
January 4, 2019 | Version 1.74
Nice looking app, but not accurate. The jumps a far from accurate and also airtime is not. Disappointed, try to mail but didn't get an answer. Maybe by this way!
January 4, 2019, Surfy66
Hello Ron. First, I always answer to the emails I receive but, sometimes, I can not answer them right away because I'm not always available for that, and your last email was only a day ago... Secondly, I never pretended the accuracy of jumps was perfect, and I'm always trying to improve the code in order to get better results but, the accuracy depends also of the watch sensors equipped by your watch, that can differ regarding the model you use (some models are more accurate than the others) and for that, it's quite difficult to obtain a good average accuracy for all the Garmin models (in a perfect world, I should provide a special app for each model, that's obviously impossible...). However, after a lot of tests in real conditions, we can say that the average accuracy of my app, for an average of all the Garmin models, is between the two external dedicated sensors, the Woo and the Piq but, unfortunately, some users can be out of the average range.
October 19, 2018 | Version 1.63
I have been using this app for windsurfing for several months now after having used som of the other free apps and this developer's simpler datafield. I have found it highly effective for gathering information about about my session. The app records and analyses many parameters while you are on the water and you can access these on the watch, or later on Garmin Connect Mobile, and the web version of Garmin Connect. So much data on the watch screens means the text is small, so I am grateful for the large text summary screen option, which I can use on the water and leave my specs on the beach. I also like being able to enter wind strength, direction and sail size on the beach without having to do so using the phone to do the input. I am impressed by the regular updates and added features of this app. Also, the developer responds quickly to questions or requests for added features. For me, this is the best paid for app on my watch (or my phone!). Since I started windsurfing in 1977 I dreamed of some way of recording speed, jumps and gybes. The combination of this app and the Fenix 5 is the realisation of that dream and more.
October 15, 2018 | Version 1.63
Great app, very complete! Snowkiting option is great.
October 15, 2018, Surfy66
Thanks for your feedback Gytis
October 14, 2018 | Version 1.62
I appreciate the easier handling and temporarily saved values of wind direction, -speed, sail size.
Please improve the graph of the jibe speed.
Maybe get rid of it completely and plot the jibe speed figures for each leg in a list view.
Maybe you can add Time/ distance Planing vs non planning.
What is the difference between speed and velocity; there is non, so why don’t delete?
Would it actually possible to have various sections / colours for the path, whereas the sections/ colours state the various velocities.
So one can see straight away the fastest legs, etc
I still have touch screen issues. it can be paused any time unfortunatelly
October 15, 2018, Surfy66
"Maybe get rid of it completely and plot the jibe speed figures for each leg in a list view" = impossible with Garmin SDK; "What is the difference between speed and velocity; there is non, so why don’t delete?" = ???; "Would it actually possible to have various sections / colours for the path, whereas the sections/ colours state the various velocities" = impossible with Garmin SDK
October 8, 2018 | Version 1.60
aimed high, but...
a lot of features doesnt work properly.
by the end you get velocity, path, heartbeat and the wind efficiency, if set up.
there are free apps on the market which actually give you the jibing speed...
so please fix the features and focus on intuitive handling
October 9, 2018, Surfy66
"a lot of features doesn't work properly": which ones ? You don't argue your allegation; "by the end you get velocity, path, heartbeat and the wind efficiency, if set up": ??? There is no IA inside the app, how do you want the app to know some data (like wind direction) if you do not enter them manually ?; "there are free apps on the market which actually give you the jibing speed": yes, probably but, do they also give all the other information that my application gives ? I doubt...
