It installs ok and after a bit of tinkering connects to the concept 2, but the app turns of the heart rate monitor in my 235.... Seems to make it rather pointless ?

If you want to use the HRM in the watch (or paired to the watch) you need to configure that in settings. The default is to take the HR from the PM5.
July 22, 2018 | Version 1.3.3
So,....this app is ok. It's a bit of a pain to make sure it starts/stops with your workout because you have to first sync your ergo to the HR monitor and *then* to the watch to pick it up. But once you've worked that out, it seems to operate ok.
BUT - and this is a huge, massive BUT, for all the data it records, it does NOT record/export to Garmin your 500m splits?! Does someone need to explain to Gamrin or whoever that *the* most important stat you care about as a rower are your 500m splits and this doesn't record that? So you always have to go back to the data from the ergo to get this crucial data. I literally can't believe that someone made a rowing app that doesn't record 500m splits.
Please - sort this out!!!

All of the Connect issues are limitations of Connect and what developers can do. This is a known problem for all developers using native FIT fields.
July 6, 2018 | Version 1.3.3
I think this app could be vastly improved as it doesn't quite integrate with the garmin connect mobile function. For example, it doesn't display distance covered, stokes/min, time per 500m and calories burnt. Essentially it is just as handy to take a photo with iPhone and store that for reference regarding improvement. Surely an update can improve things so that it works as well as other garmin apps. After all that is why consumers buy these products!
July 3, 2018 | Version 1.3.3
I'm not sure how this app has such amazing reviews. I installed because it was the exact app recommended by Concept 2. Was I dreaming that? I see many row-data apps on Connect IQ, but only one referred to by C2 on their support forums.
Installation and pairing instructions are completely inadequate. After updating firmware, reading many posts, trying every 'trick' to pair the devices … Nothing.
I'm stumped. I call it worthless. Removing it.
FR920XT (supported as a compatible device and up to date) C2 rower with PM5 (firmware V27... app requires V22...or higher)
October 9, 2018, lcj2
The FR920XT has some issues that are device specific that prevent it from pairing consistently. This is outside the control of the developer and am sorry to hear you couldn't get it working.
July 1, 2018 | Version 1.3.3
Great idea. Execution still lacking. Fenix 3, device connects and sees the PM5 all stats are good. Finish workout does mot save activity properly. You have to "back" out of the activity and then some is lost on sync.
June 26, 2018 | Version 1.3.3
Good app. Finicky on my 735XT but much nicer on my Fenix5x+
Question, any plans on distance to be included? It is almost perfect, but missing the distance is a crazy thing to miss! I assume Garmin is to blame, but there must be a way.
June 24, 2018 | Version 1.3.3
Perfect. Thank you
June 11, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Worked 1st time I used it, but HR did not show in app. Any suggestions for this?
May 15, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Thank you for this great app. Love it.
April 19, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Still quirky with PM5, F3, Garmin Connect. AMAZING but QUIRKY.
Freezes easily, and inconsistently. Causes PM5 to freeze. The start up sequence seems critical, but I haven't gotten that down yet. If you pause during an activity, it seems to make the app freeze. sTOPPING doesn't give any cues. Previously wrote to developer, but did not hear back. That said, this IS amazing that it even works at all. When working, this gets power, pulse etc. into connect. One reviewer says that it does upload to TP from there. I will findout soon enough.
If I can figure out a reproducible way to boot up and run consistently, I will surely let everyone know.
I am writing this not so much to criticize the product, but to let the developer know that she/he has an amazing product so far, but, as someone else said, not quite ready for prime time.
IN THE MEANTIME, you should try it. Maybe your configuration will work flawlessly, as some obviously do,
KEEP IT UP-- REVISE-- REVISE - REVISE -- Once running properly and consistently, there's nothing else like it.
April 14, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
It's awesome. Works great with my Forerunner 235. The only things I could wish for would be for the device heart rate to be sent to the PM5, and for the Connect IQ data fields to integrate with the native activity fields, but I don't think those things are currently possible, even if the developer wanted to.
April 13, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Not ready for prime time. Very buggy connection and activitites frequently fail to save - if you use this app, ensure you note your workout summary on the PM5 panel before exiting the activity. Good chance you're going to have to record it manually in Garmin Connect.
April 8, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
I have an concept2 with PM5 (latest Firmware) and a Garmin vivoactive HR wir the ErgIQ App Android i can't connect
March 17, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Not impressed as all the data is displayed in Garmin but only under IQ app data. Therefore Garmin does not record the distance by default and when synced to Strava shows no distance covered, yet go in to Garmin and the data is at the bottom of the page. Use the Erg data app on a smartphone, it syncs everything and even records the distance you have rowed
March 14, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Wish it would show distance I rowed rather than the GPS distance (0mtrs) or the stroke rate.
March 7, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
I like this app, but it is weird and needs some improvement. I use it on my VivoActive 3 with a Concept2 Model D with a PM5.
- First what I like. I can get my watts into TrainingPeaks, so I can get a real TSS. The other data is great as well, but that leads me to what I don't like.
- Why does the GPS stay on? This messes everything up because all the fitness apps want to prioritize location data over distance/speed data. This makes it look like - for example - my 10000 meter rowing session zig-zagged for a 1/4 mile in a tiny little spot. This app should not record GPS data and should instead use only the speed and distance reported by the PM5 to my watch. If this one thing was fixed, the app would be almost perfect.
- The second issue is the interface. The pairing process is a bit annoying, but the fact that it even works at all is a miracle since my watch cannot access all this cool data normally (like power, for example). The first time I saw the pair prompt come up on my watch face I thought it was a miracle, so I'll let the awkward process go. The only other issue with the interface is that it stops the workout, ends the session, and required repairing If you ever press the stop button, then it just goes back to the activity selection screen. NO OTHER ACTIVTY ON MY WATCH WORKS THIS WAY. All the others prompt you to confirm you really are done with the workout and continue if you're not. Then they present you with a summary screen. We really need a confirmation screen.
- My final issue is where the app writes data, which is likely directly related to my first issue. For example, the SPM/Cadence is recorded in the "connectIQ" area on Garmin Connect, but not in the actual Garmin Connect slot for cadence/spm. Same with distance, speed, etc (probably related to issue #1). I have to go back an manually add all these, pulling them from elsewhere in the file. That's just plain silly.
February 23, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Can I get it to log meters and display them for each workout?
Are you planing to integrate HR on hand wrist?
(PM5 and FR735XT)
February 19, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Seems to work well for me. Collects a lot of useful rowing data. Seems to be one small bug where the stroke count that is on the summary screen is usually way wrong but that's a largely useless piece of data anyway. An enhancement I'd like to see is the list of 500m pace splits for each piece as part of the data. Overall though it does work great with my pm5 and my Garmin Fenix 5x! Well done!
February 10, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
doesnt work on my forerunner935, cant start.
February 11, 2018, lcj2
Please double check the firmware version on the PM5 and manual to verify everything. If it still isn't working use the contact developer to provide more information. I'm sure the application works with the 935.
February 9, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Terrible app. Doesnt work on Garmin S60. Doesnt transfr all data from PM5 to S60 either to the Garmin Connect. I cant tranfer those data to concept2 log book to. I dont recommende this app.
February 11, 2018, lcj2
Sorry to hear this application isn't working for you. Without seeing the Connect activity it's hard to determine if the data is there or not due to the way Garmin Connect handles developer data. The application data can't be transferred to the Concept2 logbook due to the way ANT works and how accurate the data is and isn't an advertised feature of the application so that is expected.
February 3, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Tar för lång tid inann det går att koppla ihopp. Ca 10 min innan klockan fattar fenix 5
January 28, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Finally, I can now connect my Concept2 to my Fenix3 :))
January 18, 2018 | Version 1.3.2
Thank you for creating such a useful and functional app. Works perfectly with my rower and I'm looking forward to using it with my new ErgBike.
January 9, 2018 | Version 1.2.2
I, too, have been waiting for a way to log C2 into Garmin connect via Fenix 3. This works exactly as expected. I wake up ROWPRO, and then pair watch with ANT via the "More Options" on the C2 screen. The APP stores lots of data which turns up nicely in CONNECT. I haven't tried running ERGDATA, PAINSLED, etc., at the same time yet, since I now get everything I want from the C2, ROWPRO (for ease of visualization) and my FENIX 3 with this APP.
GOOD WORK! KEEP IT UP!
December 29, 2017 | Version 1.2.2
Works great, been waiting for this app to permit logging my C2 works outs in Connecrt. THANKS
