I have Fenix 3hr, and tried it today while SUP surfing small waves, the app was stable,. My thresholds were to high so it did not pick up all waves. But i love the app, it was stable and will try again soon. Any chance of adding the FENIX 3HR to the Surf tracker2?? Great Job.

Thank you for the review, I hope you can get it working properly. The problem with the older watches is memory, as in there is not enough for me to add any more features. That is why I made version 2 for the Fenix 5 etc.

Fenix 3- you need to go into Settings-apps and then Add New. Call it Surfing or whatever, then select Data Screens, then SCREEN 1. Change LAYOUT to only 1 field (unless you want to add more) then scroll down to FIELD 1 and select the SURF TRACKER you have downloaded. Then go back and make sure the other screens are off (Screen 2 to Screen 10). Then you are done. It is then available as one of your Apps (same way you use for running etc.) by pressing the Start button and scrolling to find whatever you called it. May be other options if you want to play around, but this is how I set it up.

Hi, First great job ! really cool app. i have a question, when i export my data to save my activities, i can backup the sessions but not all the data... I do that by a python script on github. I can get speed, duration but not the number of waves by example If you have an idea ?

Works surprisingly well, much better than I expected. Great job on building this!

Before giving a 1 star review maybe you could at least try to read the instructions. It's a DATA FiELD not an app...

Fenix 3 HR - this takes a bit of setting up if your a newbie like me..... u tube data fields for your watch type as it goes in data fields (the developer does state this in his comments), it is not a application,(this tricked me up for while until I figured it out) but in saying that once it is setup it is a amazing app ( i would say the best on my watch that I have to date) 10/10 for use and fun to track surf sessions.......... Play with your settings as on small days it may not record all waves if they are short rides due to the settings. I set mine up to scroll between this and heart rate data as a matter of curiosity. Amazing the heart rate difference between small days and larger days. Great app and thanks to the developer. Reading the other comments, the low star ratings are from the ones that did what I did originally and not set it up properly.........take the time to learn and set it up and it works amazing ........ GARMIN SHOULD BE MAKING THIS A STANDARD APPLICATION IT IS AMAZING

Thanks for the 1 star review... Instead, perhaps send a message to the developer or post a question in the forum. It does work for the F3HR. Most problems are user error.

First test (longboard session). Works perfectly! Good waves detection, very easy to use. I can see the surf tracker statistics in Garmin Connect. With the High Tides app, my forerunner 230 is the perfect tool for surfing. Thank you bwd1, very good job! (my session :

**** VIVOACTIVE users beware******** I have been using an older version of this app for the past 10 months to track my surf sessions here in Costa Rica. I liked the old versuon, however it was not always accurate even after adjusting the settings. I updated to this current version approx 1 week ago. The 2nd time I used the app, it locked up my watch completely. After a little research, the one way to get it to turn off was to hold the power button down for 10 seconds which is also a "hard reset" pushing the watch back to factory settings. When I try to turn the watch back on, it will not connect with my phone anymore and continues to lock up time after time after you walk through the set up via the watch itself. Not sure if it is the app, but what else could it be since watch has worked fine the entire time I have owned it. If anyone has some suggestions , please shoot them my way. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

If you surf, this is the data field you are looking for. Really accurate. It works exactly as it is described. Have it in my Garmin 235 and works perfect. Totally recommended.

Genious App I use it for Sup Surfing and Downwinders, it is just awsome, very well thought of, right to the point and with the settings it has many different uses. Too bad i can't download all the information (Fenix 3HR), and that is a GARMIN issue that they don't seem to care to fix, we should all complain TO GARMIN and maybe they fix it.

Another new user question. Where do I change the threshold settings? Surfed today and counted too many waves and would like to play around with threshold settings to get Surf Tracker counting a little more accurately. Thanks

If you are talking about the uploading to Garmin Connect... that is a Garmin issue as mentioned on the app main page. I have no control over it.

great app (have only used once so far) - vivoactive HR - i did experience the screen "going bonkers" effect but data recorded fine and was able to correlate with gopro video - you have access to raw recorded gps data to create discrete surf tracks. additional details

Hi guys Please help me about some adjust in app. This os amaizing app but some times the default settings counted about twice as many waves What isthe best adjusted for surf the Waves count settings?

First try changing the Min Speed Threshold to 11 kph. If that doesn't work then try the settings suggested below by BradCracc 13/10/14/5. The settings really depend on the device and the activity you use - some activities smooth the speed more than others. The default settings work on the 920XT under the Other (Paddle) activity and this is the only device I have for testing. Thanks.

It's a data field, so you add it to an activity like Paddle or SUP. I don't have a F3 so I can't give you the steps, but google "fenix 3 1 layout data field":

Used yesterday for first time. Brilliant! Caught a wave for 126m/38 seconds. Can't work out why I can't see the stats tho in the Garmin connect app? (I set it up as a single field under a new activity). Any advice please?

See the link here: It is a known Garmin bug that will hopefully be fixed, there is nothing you or I can do :(

16 January 2017 | Version 1.53

Great work! Took it out for the first time surfing today. I set it up using the SUP activity, and followed instructions here and in the forums to install correctly. Worked great with my vivoactive HR. The default settings counted about twice as many waves, so reviewed my data post surf and adjusted the wave count settings (using the phone app) to min speed 13 kph min time 10 sec min max speed 14 kph min distance 5m. I think this should be more accurate for me, but it may need one more rev of tuning to get it nailed. Still, this is a fantastic tool and I'm super grateful and happy with it! Thanks Dev!
