Race Screen

Description

Race Screen is a data field that displays the most relevant information for running a race or training. It also corrects the difference between the GPS-measured distance and the actual race course distance: pressing the lap button when passing a course marker rounds the distance it displays and adjusts the average pace accordingly. If you set a race distance, it predicts your finish time.

What’s New

- Now with option to set a lap length different from 1km or 1 mile

- Now with option to predict race finish time assuming the average pace so far is kept until the end (default is instead to assume the current pace is kept until the end)

See https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2016/12/pacing-races-garmin.html for a detailed review by DC Rainmaker

IMPORTANT NOTE: The distance displayed by this data field may differ from the built-in distance field. This is by design, to help the user correct the difference between the GPS-measured distance and the official course distance when running a race by triggering a manual lap when passing an official course marker. If you wish to use this field only as a way to display information nicely in a single screen, you can switch off the distance/average pace adjustment and set the race distance and target time to 0 in the app settings.

Great data field!!! Works as intended, perfect for races!!! Use it for the last two years for each race longer than 5k. It is invaluable for marathons!!! If I were to suggest improvements, I would allow an option to turn off HR and cadence to make the screen more legible.

I love the idea but I am having a problem with the distance field . It is drifting badly from the regular garmin screen . For example it is1Km out in 7KM that I ran today . That means that the average pace and predicted are useless . I am using on a forerunner 235 . I assume this is not working as intended . Can anyone help fix the problem?

Exceptional! The only thing I have not understood is how to set the desired distance in order to get a prediction of time

Very well thought out. Great for training, but even better for race or just trying to nail a specific time with measured splits. Do read info and try out before you race with it: I was super confused before I realized how the app works. Colors on cadence and HR are key for people like me who have trouble with small type.

Grazie

Does not work with FR 945. Loads fine. As soon as a setting is changed it crashes. Help? I placed this here because the contact the developer link does not work. Great screen, just no luck with FR 945

This has become my go-to screen, even for training. Outstanding.

Really nice data fields.

Great app. One issue. It only allows a value of 0 for seconds used to calculate average pace. If one puts any other number in the app says "Must be between 0 and 0." Can't find any help on this issue. I am using the app on a Fenix3 HR and I connect with a Mac.

I have the same problem as ine of the earlier reviewers. When I input the distance in meters and time in seconds for some reason the datafields disappear and I see “IQ!” on the screen. When I try to ‘reset’ the settings, the problem still exists. Any advice?

Great app but still struggling to get the predicted time up. If I input the distance in meters snd time in seconds for some reason the datafields disappear and I see “IQ!” on the screen. Any advice?

I like this application, specially since all the data can be read perfectly. Just one fault, I would Iike to see the pace and time of the current lap.

Awesome app! Really useful when trying to achieve a goal time in a race, especially in races with many tunnels or tall buildings, like the Chicago Marathon.
