I've used SAA for years on and off. Easily the best sleep tracking app around and functionality really fits well with what garmin already offers. Unfortunately the long standing issue of battery drain is still there. One night sleep costs me 4-6 days battery life. Not worth it for me having bought the watch partly for the battery life. May well be worth it for others.

I give it 4 stars. Does it kill your battery life? Yes, yes it does. But its partly because SAA can't take advantage of some Garmin optimization as a 3rd party developer. Same thing with 3rd party watchfaces. But the functionality to F6S was easy to set up and worked right out of the box - I just know that I need to charge in the morning if im using sleep tracking also using the garmin.

I'm uninstalling this app after having given it a second go after a 2 year break. The app drains 50%+ of the battery on my Vivoactive 4s and it's not clear how to stop tracking sleep (managed one night after a lot of tries, next night had to restart the app to stop tracking).

Well, the app works in general, but as many other reviews stated: at what cost?! One major point for me to buy an Instinct 2 was the good battery life. But that is totally ruined when using this app, as it drains 4+ days of battery during a single night when not even using all features like heart rate or such. That issue is known for nearly a year now and the only updates were to add new watch models... I also want to question how much real testing was done, as the UI clearly is not designed for the Instinct 2. You cannot read the shown time completely as the circular cut-out blocks it partly. Another point I want to mention is that the vibration on the watch during alarm might be nice for some, but I prefer only the alarm on my phone. Setting that in Sleep as Android (vibration for watch set to off) however does not do anything. The watch still vibrates during the alarm. Would be really nice to not force that on the user but make it actually configurable.

Didn't make it through the first night with 80% remaining on my 245 music. The battery drainage is no joke.

Horribly unstable on my Fenix 7x, half the time it causes my watch to restart.

Despite the claim it has been fixed, same issue as other users persists: App locks upon launch: if you like the screenshot, this might be for you cuz it is all you'll be seeing Perhaps alarm function would work with the app working, but strongly doubt it given the performance so far.

This works in that it does a much better job of tracking sleep than the default Garmin app. However, it's battery use and the fact you can't stop it without using 'force stop' or restarting the watch are deal breakers. Instead of constantly communicating with the phone, this app needs a design that allows it to store data on the watch and upload in the morning, or at intervals. It should not lock the watch while running. whole

While it works and tracks the sleep data, it does so at a heavy battery usage. It's unacceptable to use 23% for one night compared to the 2-3% usage without the app. Even with SpO2 monitoring during sleep, the Garmin's monitoring barely reaches 4%. Can this app not hook into the existing battery-efficient sleep monitoring, instead of using close to 100% more battery?

I'm running app on Instinct 2 Solar. If I start sleep tracking from Sleep as Android app, it will take more than half of battery during one night. I figured out, that I have to run sleep tracking from watch itself. So 1. Start sleep as android app on the phone 2. Start sleep as android app on the watch 3. The phone App registers watch is running the app and automatically start sleep tracking. (sometimes [1 of 5 times] this event doesn't occur, so I have to start tracking manually from phone) With this steps battery drain during the night is mere 10%.

The most ridiculous way to have it work 100% of time: - have your watch turned off/turned on - open Sleep Garmin app on the phone, go to Setup-Test Sensor - confirm 'Just This Once' on the watch, wait until app and watch pair (watch says 'Tracking.' - stop tracking on the phone ('Save and close'), watch will follow and close its widget as well - turn off/turn on the watch - once you are ready to go to sleep, start Sleep As Android from the watch (phone tracking will start as well) You will get a full night tracking with no battery drain

Apps should not need a force stop option that actually get used. Not sure if the app actually does anything.. sleep as android data doesn't actually match my sleep experience.

Instinct 2, it works for me, with one huge disadvantage - it's a HUGE battery hog. One night tracking is about 35% of battery life For a comparison - watch discharge rate is around 4-5% a day, so sleep tracking is equal to almost a week of battery life. Other than that it works very well, if it suits your charging habits I highly recommend this app

Vivoactive 4: shame it's not a widget but rather accessed in the activities settings. But starting the app on the phone gives a watch notification about 30 seconds later to track sleep. Battery usage seems high. Biggest complaint is the watch face says to hold menu button to unlock screen. This does not work

I like the functionality. However, it's automatically starting sleep tracking at some random time every day, what is causing that?

Finally i get this damned garmin watch. But the smart sleeping function is not working. It is tracking but not wakes me up. It worked fine with the huawei watch 1. Little Vibration from the watch to let me wake up. But after Google Update and boycott huawei, the smartest watch went into the trashcan. And now 7 years later, this very fine App is still not working for me. I need this biorythm smart sleeping - smart Awakening. It is so good. Hope it will work some Day. Good work ;-)

2 stars as it almost doesn't work for me. FR645 Music. At start works ok, but in the mid of the night it stops sending data to Sleep As Android app. As a result, app has data for first half of the sleep then no data and is not able to wake me in the smart way. Besides I have huuge battery drain: almost 30% during 6h sleep.

(Venu 2) Thank you for continuing to develop this app. I'm so glad this app works for me on Garmin. I've used this app on my phone before smart watches were a thing. Now, that smart watches are a thing, this app was the only thing missed when switched over from WearOS. Yes, it takes slightly more battery to use, but for me personally, the 20% battery reduction is incredibly worth it. Thank you for all you do at Sleep As Android!

NOTE: this is just the plugin's rating, not the Android app as a whole. I have no idea how, but Sleep as Android actually records much worse with my watch connected than just via the phone by listening to my magnificent breathing. I've got about 50% of sleep time unaccounted for (literally no data) whilst when done without my watch, everything is recorded and labelled properly (almost the same as in my Connect app, mind you). So what the heck? That's a good question. This plugin makes my REM sleep non-existent as well. +1 star for including heart rate in the sleep graphs. Also, the battery drain isn't terrible, I lose only about 10-15% during a 6h sleep. Dev, what do you need to fix this plugin? Please contact me. Garmin Venu 2 Plus
