Creating this datafield was inspired by the book "Be IronFit: Time-Efficient Training Secrets for Ultimate Fitness" written by Don and Melanie Fink. They separate their training plans into four heart rate zones of which zones 1 and 2 should be used mainly. Training in Zones 3 should be avoided at all and Zone 4 should be used very sparsely, only for rare interval workout sessions. The datafield gives a visual feedback to the athlete, in order to get brief information about the heart rate zone he/she currently is running or cycling. The zones are preset as stated in the book (Zones 1 to 4), simply add your maximum heartrate with the settings editor from the Garmin Connect App. When the timer is stopped you will get a summary of time in all training zones to verify your training goals and to plan your further training accordingly. After uploading your training to Garmin Connect you will see all times and a zone chart in your activity overview.</p>
