# 12 Shichen(Shichen is a two-hour period)

## Background
The Chinese ancients observed the sun during the day and the stars at night, dividing the day into twelve periods on average, and dividing the sky dome into twelve directions centered on the North Star.
In the Han Dynasty, it was named as Midnight, Chicken Singing, Pingdan, Sunrise, Eclipse Time, Suizhong, Sunzhong, Sunrise, Sunrise, Sunrise, Dusk, and Rending. It is also expressed in terms of the twelve 地支, 子，丑, 寅, 卯, 辰, 巳, 午, 未, 申, 酉, 戌, 亥，and it is said that when the night is twenty-three to one o'clock, when one to three o'clock is 丑, and three to five o'clock is 寅， and so on

Each hour is divided into "beginning of time" and "time of day", which is 24 hours a day.

## What does this dial look like?

This dial, the circumference is first divided by 12 equal parts, each equal point represents an hour, 2 hours, an hour and then equal points, representing the beginning of the hour, the hour is positive, each hour has 5 scales, each scale is 12 minutes, which is the minimum time granularity of this dial. In other words, the dial is in 3 degrees as a step value, for a total of 120 minimum ticks, and the two adjacent minimum ticks are spaced at 12 minutes.

When the pointer is in any position, you can see the current hour, and if you want to know the current hour, you can convert it yourself. In addition I added a readable time text option, please set it yourself in Conenct IQ. 古人白天观日、夜间观星，将一天平均分为十二个时段，将天穹以北极星为中心，划分为十二个方位。
汉代命名为夜半、鸡鸣、平旦、日出、食时、隅中、日中、日昳、晡时、日入、黄昏、人定。又用十二地支子、丑、寅、卯、辰、巳、午、未、申、酉、戌、亥来表示，以夜半二十三点至一点为子时，一至三点为丑时，三至五点为寅时，时间对照以及别称参考如下
子时：23:00-1:00，又称午夜、子夜、夜半、宵分、未旦、未央等；
丑时：1:00-3:00，又称鸡鸣、昧旦等；
寅时：3:00-5:00，又称骑旦、平明等；
卯时：5:00-7:00，又称日出等，为古代官署开始办公的时间；
辰时：7:00-9:00，又称食时等；
巳时：9:00-11:00，又称隅中等；
午时：11:00-13:00，又称日中等。正午12:00时，又称平午、平昼、亭午等；
未时：13:00-15:00，又称日侧、日映等；
申时：15:00-17:00，又称哺时、日哺等；
酉时：17:00-19:00，又称日入等；
戌时：19:00-21:00，又称黄昏、日暮等；
亥时：21:00-23:00，又称人定、夤夜等。

每个时辰又等分为“时初”、“时正”，这便是一天24小时。
