This data field estimates your VO2max from a treadmill running test. This is particularly useful in snowy, wintery climates where it is difficult to run outdoors. You must be able to run a steady pace of 7 miles per hour (11.3 km/hour) or faster to use this app.

1. Add the data field to your treadmill activity.
2. Set the treadmill to 0 degree incline, and speed to 11.3km/h (7mph).
3. Start the activity on your Garmin watch. and warm up for 10 minutes.
4. At the 11 minute mark and every minute thereafter, the watch will vibrate and the new incline setting will be shown on the data field, set the treadmill incline to this value.  (The inclination increases 2 degrees at the 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 minute mark, and by 1 degree at the 16 minute mark and every minute thereafter.)
5. When you can no longer continue, press STOP on your Garmin watch and stop the treadmill.
6. Switch back to the activity screen (left swipe on touchscreen devices) to see the measured VO2max.
7. After this, you can save the activity.

* Determines VO2max adjustment for altitude and saves this for viewing with the activity in Garmin Connect. For example, if the VO2max adjustment value is 5%, then the reported VO2max should be further multiplied by 1.05 to estimate your VO2max at sea level.
