Keep track of your bicycle chain maintenance and wear directly on your Garmin
Edge. This app tells you exactly when it is time to re-wax, lubricate or replace
your chain — protecting your drivetrain and keeping your bike running smoothly.

-- Two Counters for Every Chain --

Wax Cycle: 
Tracks the distance ridden since the last waxing or lubrication.
When your configured maintenance interval is reached, the data field alerts you
with a clear colour-coded warning.

Lifetime Mileage: 
Tracks the total distance ridden on the chain across its
entire lifespan. This helps you replace chains at the right time, reducing wear
on expensive cassettes and chainrings.

Perfect if you ride multiple bikes or rotate chains regularly. Track up to five
individual chains, give each one a custom name, and switch between them from
your smartphone. Mileage and maintenance history are kept separately for every
chain.

Already using a chain? Enter its existing mileage as a starting offset, and the
lifetime counter continues from there instead of starting at zero.

A high-contrast colour scheme makes it easy to assess your chain's condition
while riding:

Green = Everything is fine
Yellow = Maintenance due soon
Red with a blinking "RE-WAX" warning = Service interval exceeded

The blinking alert makes an overdue chain impossible to miss — no complicated
numbers or menus, just the information you need, exactly when you need it.

All configuration and maintenance actions are handled through the Garmin Connect
app — no fiddling with buttons while riding:

Reset Wax Cycle: 
After waxing or lubricating, reset the wax-cycle counter to
zero. Handy for maintenance done earlier than planned, for example after a wet
ride.

Switch Chains: 
Select the active chain for your current bike. Switching never
resets anything — each chain simply picks up where it left off.

Install a New Chain: 
Resets a chain slot completely, both lifetime mileage and
wax-cycle distance, ready for a fresh chain.

Change the active chain and trigger a reset in the same save, and the reset is
always applied to the newly selected chain.

Notes: Distance is taken from your ride activity data (GPS and/or speed sensor).
While the bike is stationary, or during indoor sessions without a speed sensor,
no mileage is accumulated. Add the data field to a single data screen only —
placing it on two screens at once will count your distance twice.
